Funny you mention that. I planned on putting the charger on tonight in hopes of clear skies, but the forecast is not looking good! :(

I know I remember hearing at the Dublin ride that your new bike has never seen the rain. Not that I am implying that you can't ride in the rain. Anyone that can take curves two-up like you can ride in the rain.

Whats up Chris? I ride everyday. I have rain gear I stuff in my back pack if its not raining when I head out. I have pants that keep me dry ( and warm in winter) and that go over the clothes Im wearing. Then they slip right off when I walk in and its like I was never riding in it. Then I have a jacket with removeable liner with an awsome set of vents. But when it rains, I close them up and put the liner in so nothing gets through the zippers. Works great. Only time I wont ride is if its a true thunderstorm, or ice on the road.

I've ridden in the rain a few times mostly because the weather changed on me while I was at work or I didn't pay attention to the weather. If given the choice I'll leave the bike at home and take my vehicle. No sense riding in the rain when I have two different vehicles I can drive to work and stay nice and dry.

I keep an eye on the weather forecast every morning before I head out. If its just rain, then I ride. But I also have a choice of my car or truck as well if I just cant seem to wake up. But my truck gets about the same mpg's as the rest of you with full size trucks. I have the 5.4 in my 4x4 and it doesnt get all that great mileage. I made the mistake of making my car more of a toy and gets roughly 9-12 mpg. So I choose to ride instead. I just alternate bikes. My commute isnt that bad and as mentioned, my gear keeps me plenty dry.

I with you jose but not just to stay dry. I am not sure why but when i ride in the rain i am a nervous wreck, I keep waiting for the bike to slide out from under me. I have got caught many times in the rain without a problem but it still scares the shit out of me everytime.

Well boys to each his own. I just got in from my girlfriends house. I live in Mesquite and she lives in Sachse. Probably a 20-25 minute ride on a normal day. It didnt take me any longer than usual to get home. I got caught in the big rain around 12:30. And I didnt ride like a moron either. Dont get me wrong, I would have stayed but I didnt have any clean clothes with me and I took the ones I had there home. Truth be told, I didnt want to bother with getting up 1 1/2hrs earlier than usual to go home and get ready for work.
Anyway, my gear did great. I put my liner back in my jacket. My rain pants kept all the rain off of me. I keep all my gear in my back pack when the weather is " iffie ". I dont really get nervouse in it. I just try to be as smooth as possible and keep my head on a swivel when going through inter-sections or passing through side streets. And I just brake a bit earlier than normal when coming to a stop sign or light. I guess Im just used to it.

I hear you Jesse, I'm in the same exact boat. I've got a Ford SuperCrew (5.4) that doesn't get great gas mileage and my Mustang is more of a toy now with the SuperCharger, 42# injectors, and 255 LPH fuel pump. Riding the bike everyday is not exactly an option for me either as I have to wear slacks and a nice shirt and riding 33 miles one way in hot weather isn't exactly good for keeping clothes "wrinkle" free :D Now I've got a little Taurus SHO daily driver that use now for work that gets good gas mileage, has AC, and is paid for :D

I used to be the same way. Just take things slow and give yourself plenty of room and you'll be OK.

Now thats what I want to do. I envy you there. I dont evny the slacks though. ;) I dont want to sell either of my bikes. But I may dabble in putting the car up. I love my truck but I wont drive it unless I have to. All my vehicles are paid for except the truck. But I want to find me a nice daily that gets good gas mileage. It dont have to be great mpg. Just decent. I only work 8-10 miles from home. I actually have a avenger but the motor blew out and I never replaced it. I may look to see how cheap or expensive that will be. It was just a four banger and got good mileage.

Thats the reason I have not done alot to the mustang. It is paid for and I do not want another payment. So i leave it mainly stock to use as a daily and the 20mpg it gets is not too bad when I use the bike on good days. If I had to drive my truck everyday I would have to give up smoking and drinking, but it is paid for too so I keep it around to have when I need a truck, Or better yet when someone I know needs a truck.

Ya, wearing slacks isn't exactly ideal when riding a bike :( My truck isn't to bad. It's dependable, gets about 15MPG for my mostly highway driving to work, and I have a real nice stereo/DVD in it that makes for a nice drive wherever. But it does cost around $85 to fill up once a week and I've got over 150K miles on it for an 02 truck so I'm trying to keep from driving it to much. The Taurus hasn't exactly been to dependable, but it's fairly quick, pretty comfortable, and gets pretty good gas mileage.
If only I didn't work so far away from home or didn't have to worry to much about how I dress I'd probably ride the bike more :(

LMAO! I just saw that!

I hear ya. I sometimes wish my Mustang was closer to bone stock and didn't use as much gas :(

Whats wrong with us people? LOL when I started my car, it started with me just wanting a bad ass sound system. I got that part taken care of then, I did a couple simple things to the motor then it never stopped getting goodies added to it before it was to late. Getting it inspected is HELL......... I will leave it at that on what I have to do.
I know all to well how much it costs to fill these trucks up. Good thing I use 87 octane in my truck. Or I would convert it to run on cooking grease from McDonalds. :D

No shit on the truck millage. i kept thinking there was somthing wrong with mine. I found the New car sticker in the glove compartment the other day(damn thing has been in there for ten years). And sure enough right there on the side it says 12mpg city. I was like," what the hell were you thinking." No wonder I have never gotten any better than 16mpg. Oh well I still have to have a truck, but thank god I do not have to drive it everyday!!!! I drive about 60miles a day.
