Are these bikes any good/fun? I'm looking for a first bike. Those things are dirt cheap brand new, although I'm sure the resale value is a joke. I've never heard of them. I'm leaning towards an F4i/R6/GSXR600 etc. Not wanting a new bike, just something fun and injected that looks good. I want something with balls but not interested in hauling ass or stunting, wanting to enjoy riding safe and smart. I know that a 750 would have more TQ and be easier to ride. I have also considered a TLR, SV650 or a Honda 919.

aren't they like $3500 msrp? if you are looking for a 250cc get a ninja so at least you will have some resale value. they are hard to find in stock but i'd rather wait than buy that hyosung.

edit... just noticed you wanted fuel injected which the ninja is not.

The 250 ninja just looks like a toy. The 250 Hyo looks pretty nice, but I would still probably not buy a 250cc bike because everyone says that you outgrow them to quickly. Just thought I would ask some opinions.

Note: I have never ridden a motorcycle. But I can one wheel a mountain bike for blocks. :)

I can personally vouch for the 919. Worth every penny...

I almost bought one of those before I got the mustang. Wishing I would have got one.

idk, both look pretty similar to me, id take the more reliable name.
honda and yamaha are supposed to be bringing 250cc bikes over b/c kawasaki 2008 sales.

I've only been riding for 6 weeks now. I bought a 2002 Ninja 250. I'm 6'3" and 180lbs. The bike is small but i got it for cheap and it's in great shape. I also wanted something my fiancee could flat foot, she's a foot shorter than I am. We both took the MSF course together. Eventually I'll get a new bike and this one will be hers so that we can ride together.

I like it and I will probably outgrow it before not too long but I didn't want a large amount of money invested on a bike. I wanted to make sure it was something that I enjoyed enough to justify the money. I also didn't want to drop/wreck a brand new bike and be out a lot of cash. I haven't had any issues yet (knock on wood) and I ride everyday that it's not raining.

Regardless of how much you decide to spend and no matter what bike you get just make sure you set aside enough money to buy decent gear.

I think the Koreans have come a long way in terms of quality and reliability.
Are they as good as the Japanese Big 4? No. But they're way ahead of all the Chinese stuff, and have been in business a good long while. I've seen quite a few on the streets recently, and always mistake them for various Japanese models - they look good.

But if you're ok w/ a pre-owned bike, I agree w/ Vertnut and others and recommend considering a variety of kickass Japanese models - many of which you mentioned, before you make your final decision.

Vertnut recommends the 919 which is a cool bike that I don't see pre-owned very often. For that same category of naked/standard, I'll nominate the ZRX1100 or 1200 Kawasaki. Powerful, comfortable and very versatile, nice examples can be found starting around $3500.

Good luck.

Likewise on the ZRX's, but DAMN they are hard to find clean. If you see one, it's gone in no time. Have your shit in one pile, and be ready if the right deal comes along. Cash is King!

I just saw an '04 919 on CL. 9600 miles, and looks VERY clean. He's asking $5k, but I'll bet he would do a little better. That would be money well spent.

Nothing wrong with starting with a 250cc. Just make sure you buy somthing that you can get your money back on. ie. the Ninja not the other one. It will be a lot easier to sell a kawi then somthig most people have never heard of. trust me you will out grow the 250, but it will be great to learn on. Also they look a SHIT LOAD better than they used too. Here is a pic of my 87 ninja 250 that I had about 12 years ago.

i maybe wrong but if i remember correctly hyosung 650 motors are what the carb'd sv650's used to have in them. i remember reading an article back in an old motorcyclist and they just test rode a hyosung. just like how the kymco brand motors were used by honda since the 80's(in the scooter line).
