So, I am taking a long trip in few weeks and all the states along the way have reciprocity for CHL's with Texas except one...Ohio. which also happens to be where my trip ends and will be staying for a few days. Now, Ohio has a CHL program and it's gun laws are very similar to TX, and they have reciprocity with several of the states that TX does.
Given the nature of my trip, I am NOT traveling without a weapon...or two!
I looked over the Ohio CHL laws and they may grant a temp permit to someone that is an OH resident, or if TX has temp laws "substantially comparable to OH's"...
What is the best way to make sure I don't end up in Jail or weapon confiscated and leaving it at home is NOT an option.
Also, I seem to remember Ohio being gun Nazi's....?
Any NRA links?
Thanks!

When I went to minnesota I got pulled over and had no problems with my CHL. I would imagine they are all pretty cool, But I suppose if you get a dickhead cop you could be screwed.

If it were me though, I would just lock it up in the trunk in a pistol safe while in ohio

Nope. Just crack and adrenaline in the form of what's in my sig on an open trailer with a bed full of tools and spares. That and my competitors might try to keep me from showing up! ;)
DP, explain the Utah CPF?
I was considering contacting the Ohio state police and get some info from them. Since Ohio DOES have a CHL program, it sounds like they don't have a problem with a citizen carrying a concealed firearm if they go through the proper channels. At this time, it appears that reciprocity has been on hold for some minor language between TX/OH. One would think it is either "in review" or should be....?
That sucks, dude. Good luck.

The Utah CFP class is offered in conjunction with the Texas CHL class. You can add the Utah permit to your Texas class for an additional $25. If you already have your Texas CHL, or only want a Utah CFP, the cost of the class is $70. This includes the application, photos, fingerprints, and notary service.
The license fee to the state of Utah is $65.25.
The Utah permit adds Washington, Ohio, Nevada, and Minnesota to the reciprocal states you have with your Texas CHL .
You also may be able to qualify for a Utah CFP and legally carry in Texas, even if you do not qualify for a Texas CHL. If you are not eligible for a Texas CHL, call or email us for additional info.
(i just copyed it from a instructors web page)

Link to instructor?! For about $150, it would be nice to be legal and not have to worry about it!
Thanks for the info!
