Am going with a different look to our living room and am starting with mounting our 50" plasma on the wall and arranging all AV components on a glass/steel rack.

I need to hide cables coming from the base of the TV down to the floor and then along the base board. Proabably going to need a source for longer HDMI's as well.

Anyone been there, done that and can provide info?

make sure your frame of the house doesnt have any crossbeams. cause then you cant run the wires up to down. if that makes any sense

Firewall, and you can drill through it to run the wires.

I'm in a rent house, and have so far decided not to make more holes and run wires through the wall. I bought a panel thing at Walmart that hides the wires. It doesn't look terrible. I'd still like to hide the wires in the wall eventually, and would definitely do that if I owned the house. My approach would be to make necessary holes and just fix them when I'm done, but I have a buddy that has worked in satellite installation for a long time who I am sure can help me do it more efficiently. Good luck!

My living room already has all speaker wires run to a single base panel with binding post connections. I wasnt ready to run wires thru the wall but its not out of the question. I was thinking there might have been something like a flat paintable conduit that you could run vertical or horizontal?

Yes. That's what I was referring to. I got mine at Walmart and it was cheap. Works fine.

I am intrigued at the proposition of doing a wall drop now. :)

What if I needed to go cut over 5 ft or so from the center of the panel and then down to my audio plate? How do you do that? Or do you just cut out drywall and patch it back in? This is an exterior wall and I have that foam insulation blown inside. Also, no attic access here - above the ceiling is 2nd floor

you are going to have a hell of a time then.. you could cut the drywall the path that you want to run the wires.. then dig out some of the foam and then put the wires in and patch the wall , but thats a lot of work.. and its pretty hard to match the existing texture on the wall so you will probably be able to tell you did all that work

I ran my cables in a racetrack thing like you are asking about at my old house. I got them at Blowes..comes in 15ft lengths if I remember correctly and then you can get inside corners and outside corners...tons of shit. Works good.
