I've been thinking of buying a new Chain. And was thinking about changing to a 520 conversion on my 05 GSXR 1000 but not sure if while i'm at it should i go down one in the front or plus one in the rear? Any ideas?

Going down 1 in the front is like going up 2 in the rear.
-1F +2R is what I usually use on my bikes. If you're only wanting to replace one, do the front.

x2
going up one on the rear is pretty much a waste
I say -1F and +2R

What is your reason behind your desire to change?

he wants more torque,AND higher top end and better gas mileage.. JK :D
i'm sure he is wanting just a little more torque feeling who needs to go 150 mph :) or good gas mileage.
I'm thinking about doing mine -1+2 but that will be down the road

Unless you are a fatty or dont know how to really ride your machine a 1liter bike has plenty of kick without needing more down low. Not to mention if you gear down to much you will regret it on those highway trips or those few minutes you have a good change to open it up for a second or two..

I wouldn't change it at all. I don't lower my bikes and going -1 on a liter makes it hard to keep the front end down exiting corners and/or transitioning side to side.
If you do decide to do it, go down one on the front. The front sprocket is steel and removing teeth lowers the gearing as well as reduces rotating mass. Adding teeth to the rear sprocket not only adds additional rotating mass, but pushes it (and more importantly, the chain) outward which negates some of the acceleration gain you are looking for.

Well my original reasoning is that i'm going to buy a new chain. So if i wanted to make adjustments to my gearing i might as well do it now. On my 600 i had -1 in the front and +2 in the rear and i loved the torque. Granted i'm on a liter bike now i've read on the gixxer.com forums +1 in the rear is a good way to go. But thought i'd ask here. I might actually leave it stock just wanted to hear some options. If I stick with a 525 chain then i might as well keep my stock sprokets. If i change to a 520 then was thinking about changing the gearing.
