How good is DLP really? I don't think I've ever checked one out in person only heard that they are usually priced higher than regular plasma & lcd's. I just found someone on the inside that can get me a 64inch DLP with 3-yr warranty & extra bulb for $1200, is that a good price?

Is it 1080p?
We have had a 46" Samsung DLP for the past two years and are very well satisfied with it.

Does $1200 sound like a decent deal for one?

Sounds like a good deal to me. Then again, I don't have a DLP. :(

Yeah that's great. I bought mine in November and I think it retailed for $2400 then. I got it on sale and $400 off for getting DirecTV as well with it. I ended up paying around $1500 for it. great deal! Circuit City FTW on that one.....

$1200 bux for a 64" is cheap. that's not more expensive than a lcd/plasma at all. in fact, is it used?
DLP is good. 64" is nice and big too. you just need to find out if its 1080p and what brand/model it is to find out how good of a deal it is.

No, it's brand new.
Thanks for the info guys, I might get one.
You've got it backwards. They are typically priced lower than LCD and plasma. You can get much bigger screen size for your money with DLP. The only drawback is that you don't have the option to hang it on the wall. The picture on my Mistu 73" DLP is amazing. It beats the Samsung plasma I own and the Samsung LCD in a friend's house. 1080p movies and games look virtually flawless.
$1200 doesn't sound bad for a brand new, name brand 1080p DLP that size, especially with a spare bulb. If you don't care about hanging it, go for it. If you don't already have a stand, remember to factor that price in as well. In that price range there are several good plasmas and LCDs to choose from, but nothing that big.

You sure it's a Mitsu @ 64"? That sounds more like a Samsung, Toshiba or something like that..What's the model number?

I have the diamond series 73" DLP and it's amazing. Paid nearly 4 times what you are looking at in price. I say jump on it if indeed it's 1080p and a mitz. Reguardless of the series, they make a great TV!

Whats the exact model...
the 3 year service plan is nice, as so is the bulb... that can go for 200-300 easy. Does the service plan include ANOTHER bulb, or is the one mentioned included with the warranty.
Honestly, if it includes it or not its a good price... GOOD dying technology imo.

I could be wrong (but I doubt it) - I'm just not familiar with Mitsu making a 64" DLP any time in recent memory..

Right now i've got a 42' LG 1080p LCD (Model 42LG50), and a Samsung 56 1080p DLP. The picture is amazingly great on both, and i honestly can't say if one is better than the other in terms of picture quality. It's nice to have the mounting/moving options of the LCD, but the bigger screen on the DLP is also a huge plus.
Run by some place like Fry's and check them out for yourself before dropping the coin. Even if you don't, and you still buy it, i highly doubt you'll regret the product. . . . you may want the money for something else later though. :)
