saw this back last month and was sorta kicking my ass in not waiting. I think it's bad ass, esp that chopped rear fender with the integrated tail light/signals. It also has inverted forks now, and some functional air scoops on the airbox cover. Not a fan of the dual pipes.

yeah, I paid $18K for mine and it already had the Vance & Hines Oulaw pipe, air filter, and tuner installed. Was looking at '07's and opted for the '08 since they gave it a bigger motor, slipperclutch, and other better items.

Is this all the hp that it has? This is from the harley page.

"The Muscle is primarily a styling exercise. Rather than the more rounded shapes of the other ‘Rods, this new guy adopts slightly more angular shapes, especially in the faux fuel tank/air-box cover, wide side air-intake covers and squared-off low and cushy saddle with a rear support designed to hold the rider in place during powerful bursts of acceleration on tap from the same super-smooth 60-degree liquid-cooled DOHC, eight-valve, Revolution 1250cc V-Twin that powers all ’Rods. The Muscle comes in a 121 hp/85 ft-lbs flavor."

I like Harley's, but If I was a thrill seeker (which I am not), I would have to go with the 2009 V Max. Now I don't know a whole lot when it comes to hp on motorcycles. But this seems impressive.

"Yamaha say the primary goals for the V-Max project team were awesome acceleration and strong engine performance, precise and sharp handling, unique styling and Euro III compliance. The result is a 310-kilo motorcycle fitted with a 1,697cc V4 that makes 200 horsepower at 9,000rpm and 166.8Nm of torque at 6,500rpm."

Anywhere from 190-220+hp. I heard that new zx-14 is suppose to be king shit, but alot of the busas are turbo'd out. I guess it depends on how far your taking it to. Right now the vanes & hines v-rod team is #1 in NHRA, but if you go down to streetfighter going into pro-mod, it basically boils down to horesepower to weight ratio and driver talent. Me personally am a fan of the old scholl muscle bikes. I get caught now and then on a v-twin, but it's only for a cruise.

the '08 Night Rod Special is rated at 125hp per Harley. Don't know why it would say 121hp unless the Muscle actually has less.

The V-Max to me is just plain ugly and not really a true cruiser or muscle cruiser. it ventures way too far into sport bike tech and looks.

liter+ bikes are making that much power, but def not 600's or 750's. hell, most liters don't put down that much. the zx-14 is rated at 197 at the crank, and both that bike and the busa are neck and neck in numbers.

a gsxr 600 with full exhaust, pcIII and tune will put down around 118hp. bone stock it puts down around 105hp to the rear, and is running up only to the cbr 600 which makes about 1 more hp.

Yea, I fig thats why they turbo out alot of the bigger bikes than the smaller ones. My GS was around 150hp after my add on's and tuning but was a stock blk. I could take out those v-rods no problem, but that v-max was mean. Definatlly more of a challenge.

The V-Max is king dick in the power cruiser market. The new V-max should be able to run with the big sport bikes ie; ZX14 and Busa.

when I had my 82 GS11e, the only mods I did was jet kit, k&n filters, v/h exh w/ no baffle or tip, Ek chain and sprockets, kevlar clutch. He would always get me right outta the hole and once in a while could get him before the finish. I havn't been much of a v-twin fan but have to say it caught my eye with the new look.

hasn't the v-max always been a v-4, not a twin?

also, the B-king is detuned to a whopping 163hp, hardly close to a Busa or the new V-max.

There's over 160lbs. difference in the two. It would be a good race...until there's a bend in the road.

Yes, Vmax has always been a V4.

I think the new Vrod looks like hammered ass.

The new Vmax is a bit Batman for my tastes at the moment but have a feeling it'll grow on me. The performance numbers certainly sound impressive, as well.

Again, I just want Kawasaki to stuff that ZX14 motor in a naked that's not all gunked up w/ hideous body work like the b king is, and I'll be the first in line to write 'em a check.

I did see a concept at one point called the "z1400" I believe. sorta like the Z1000 with a bigger motor.

back in 95 I use to ride a 86 gixxer 750 and in that magazine, they showed the history of the gixxer from birth. In that time line, they showed a picture of a gixxer 1400 that was a limited edition and really hard to find.
