Lone star solar screens finished up the job yesterday. The screens turned out great IMO. Here are some before and after pics. btw, had the roof redone with new gutters also from before to after pics. Pics suck because of cheap camera.

The screens seem to improve the picture quality quite a bit.

The front door looks tiny next to those windows. You heating & cooling bill must be painful.

did you go with 80% or 90%?

I went with the 90% on all the upper part of the windows and 90% upstairs and 80% on all the lower portions downstairs because they allow more airflow if we open the windows during spring/fall.
As far as making it dark in the house, its not really dark, more like its a cloudy day. As far as temp, a DEFINITE change in temperature ! Keep in mind that the large window over my front door is like a magnifying glass during the afternoon.

How many windows did you have done? I had these guys come out and I think they were trying to rape my ass. My quote seemed VERY high.

Any idea what they charged for the large arch window and some of the other larger windows? I am thinking about getting solar screens and I have a large arch window like you and a few big windows like you have. I probably have half as many windows as you though. Is Lonestar Solar Screen the best company as far as price and quality?

I priced several companies back in april when I had mine done and Lone Star was the cheapest

WOW! I would pay that in a heart beat! I was quoted $893 for a total of 8 windows. The front 4 windows were going to be custom grid work. I think I have a total of 21 windows. I was going to have the front 4 and the 4 in my bedroom covered.

^^^ It will depend on if you want the solid screen or the ones with the white cross bar. Grandma had it done to her house and was about 230.00 with no cross bars and was close to 400 with the bars.

Lonestar should be out within the next week or so to do ours.. Sounds like we went with the same setup Andre did as far as the 90-80 split.. We went with the white frame and the buffalo screen.. No grids... 21 windows and the front door. Didn't get a quote with the grids.
My windows look a lot like Andre's on the front, with the arches, etc..
I'll post up before and after shots..

Lone star did mine last year. I paid right at $1300 for 22 windows. Most of the windows are pretty big, about 96" tall, and a huge arch above my door.
Need to get them to do 3 more that I did not have done the last time.

I have no idea, but the person that came out to bid my house was Adam and he said he was the General Manager for them.
Thanks for all the kind words, I think they look great and must admit that they sure do keep alot of the Sun's heat out !

I need to find a good company in the San Antonio area to come put some solar screens on my house. I love the look and the energy benefit is just an added bonus to me.
