Does anyone here replace windows?? I have had several people out, such as Champion Windows, etc. and those guys are on crack...my house is worth about 110k, and I am getting estimates of 6k-9k for seven freakin windows! I don't want mercedes windows, just new builders grade replacements are what I want...any recommendations are appreciated...

Not sure why, but windows are ridiculous in cost, and have been for a while.

If you're going to stay in the house you might as well upgrade. We bought our older home with new energey saver windows and our energy bill is lower than when we lived in a 1/1/0 condo.

You might try these guys..... REPLACEMENT WINDOWS (http://windowexpodfw.com/)
I got a referral from a neighbor - 18 new windows state of the art stuff. Around 7K installed.
For what you are looking for can't imagine it being what you are being quoted.

My house is about 30 years old, approx 1500 sq ft, and my avg elec bill in the summer is about 150-175. I am replacing them for appearance and function only...so I am good with modern standard windows-but you are correct, the bells and whistles windows are badass, the champion windows are VERY nice stuff probably worth the money, but I just can't bring myself to drop that much cash on a 30 yr old house that probably will never increase in value...

Entry level vinyl windows are about the same price now as the aluminum. You can get about twice the energy efficiency out of the vinyl.
