so i broke off a speaker lead from the voice coil in a mid range woofer...
i thought to myself no big deal i'll just solder it back on... i dont think so...
how hard would this be to do myself? how much would someone charge to resolder it?

If you mean where the voice coil wire meets the braided wire on back of the cone, you are screwed. Not only do the wires have to be electrically connected (soldered) the braided wire needs to be attached to the cone somehow. The solder will not keep the wires connected when the cone moves.
Toby at Toby manufacturing can fix it, probably $5 but you'll need to drive to Fort Worth.
