View Full Version : You guys want a "truck class" that bad???

Ok, I've seen a lot of requests for trucks and SUV's at the cruises...

Here's your chance. If I get "enough" participation - we'll run a truck / SUV class.

We won't bog it down with rules - but we gotta have something.

- Drag radials ok (no slicks)
- No open exhaust
- power adders ok
- minimum 6 month membership

**if you are going to run, don't chicken out! If you want to see this one again, you NEED to be there to participate. There will be a decent pay out as well.

What type of class does it need to be? My "vote" is heads up, pro tree.

Well, it's going to be dominated by the diesels. They come with turbos.. theres no denying a handful of cash can pretty much dominate the equal amount of money in a gas vehicle.

I'm sporting a 347 stroker on the bottle in an '83 F-100, the first chipped/injector diesel will easily knock me out... that's no fun.

probably not.

If we do run slicks, you can simply run a bottle and click of 6.90's which will rule out everyone in this thread. Not to mention, it would allow other "trucks" capable of mid 5's.

Yeah but everyone knows someone will be parked a 1/2 mile away with their trailer.

IMO, you should have some sort of weight rule. I mean big block S10s weighing 2800lbs isnt exactly a fair race with a full-size small block weighing 5500+ lbs.

I think that if you put in a weight rule, it'll bring out more trucks because Im considering buying a lightning right now, but even if it was sitting in my driveway, I wouldnt consider brining it, knowing there are trucks with twice the motor and half the weight. Noones going to want to line up a truck that runs 13s against a truck they know runs 10s. Its a waste of gas and the embarassment. lol

I think this sort of rule would make it a little more fair.

Trucks weighing (3500lbs and less): Drag radials only/no power adder
Trucks weighing (4000-5000 lbs): Drag radials/ power adder
Trucks weighing (5500 to whatever) Slicks and power adder

I think the 500lb difference between each class should result in, whatever your truck weighs closer to, thats what class you're in. Just so someone doesnt go taking a seat out just to make the lighter weight class.

Or something along the line of that....

Just an idea.

People, making this to complicated.

Its just a truck class, not a race car truck class. If you have a roll cage it in or have slicks your a "NO GO".

Anything else goes. This class was brought up by the people who have Daily Drivers that dont fit any of the other classes. Its a bunch of slow ass trucks and suv's.

Weight rules are NOT going to happen, this is not some sort of KOTH, TTT5 or outlaw race! We are here to have fun, not make a living. (me included)

The "drive it in" rule is to curb the mid 5 second "suv's" from coming in and cleaning house. I mean really, there are a few "track only" trucks on this site that NEED to be running in KODFWS - but given the opportunity, they will come and run away with this. Pheonix383 runs 5.60's, LBT runs low 6's on motor just for a couple..They run slicks too.

Gas bill? puleeze. I live 45 minutes north of NSD - I am driving in.

Like I've said at least a million times before, Not everyone will be pleased with the rules. So, we just have to make it work for the masses - not just a few.

Uhhh, where was the "no cage" rule in this 1st post

If you're not even going to make it a fair race, you might as well just GIVE the win to the 1 truck that'll be out there thats going to be considerably faster than the other 99% of them, before they even start racing.

To be honest, I don't care if it gets driven into the track. I will most likely drive mine in and trailer it home.. depending on how much gas I have left! I actually like what your brother said about NO CAGE. Not everyone here has a 7 or even a 6 second ride - this is another "hopefully everyone will run" class.

I like the "NO CAGE" rule I made up. Whats the victory in out running a bunch of slow ass trucks and suv's?

I am by no means the fastest truck there, my truck runs 8.70's. I still wanna compete in the race though. You are right about one thing, if there is a 6 second truck with a cage in it, you might as well give him the win light and call it a day and not even have a race.

I am sure there will be a few LsX powered trucks there that weigh 1-2000 pounds heavier then a S10 with a V8. I bet they're alot faster then what people will give them credit for.

Sam told me yours is running pretty decent with the new setup

It runs pretty good, I think he has a little more tunning to do to it. I finaly broke down and put a cold air kit on it. I here we are going in the same direction with the power adders. I hope to start on my kit here pretty quick, I have the old motor sitting around so I can make a kit off the truck so it wont affect me driving it while I am doing it. The new motor is only 9:1 so its a perfect canidate....

I was texting him early this morning... He told me about that guy. But my truck only has reverse right now. Driving anywhere isn't possible. (Except for the fact that I drove a couple miles home in reverse last night ;) ) To make matters worse I'm flying out of town tomorrow for most of the week.

I have a trailer, Tell Sam to pick it up and do it for you while your out of town. It took him a day to get mine back to me when he got the parts. For some reason I now have a traction problem at WOT when I hit second gear.

I'll just be there for the time trials and maybe a grudge match or two. I'll get drug easily since there is some talk of 8 sec 1/8th mile trucks even in this crappy weather. My best at Ennis was a 9.6 in much better weather. 2 weeks ago at Northstar it was a best of 10.1, I don't think Saturday's weather will be much of an improvement.
