2450 Sq Ft house. I have Gas and electric. Past few months the electric was around $110-$140. Hit $216 last month. Keep my place at 76 degrees. Winter rules at my house. Go gas heat:)
I am sure this next few bills will suck for electric, the heat has been ridiculous this year.
1600 sq ft house and a pool pump that runs 12hrs a day...last month it was $320

$380 last month. Apparently the added insulation didn't help. :(
Next step is to have someone service the a/c, and make sure it's in proper working order.

I wish I could keep it cooler! My woman gets cold too easily. My house is a pretty open floor plan with high ceilings so as long as I keep my fans on when I'm home it keeps it cool enough for me in here. Not looking forward to next months bill:( My old house was always at 72. That was almost perfect for me;)

CoServ is a co-op so you can expect a lot lower cost then most providers. They have to do that because customers in a co-op cannot switch providers. I work for CoServ on the gas end as an Engineer and I have to tell customers that all of the time. Heck, on the gas end we are generally a lot cheaper then Atmos per ccf.

I'm with you there I hate being hot, we're mainly working on the downstairs rooms right now so it's not bad unless you go upstairs for a little while or longer. I need to install a couple ceiling fans upstairs also, there's none in any of the bedrooms.

May 15 to Jun 15 - $180
Jun 15 to July 15 - $220
Thermostat usually stays at 79degrees but it runs all day long because I work from home. I also have three computers running all day long.
I'm betting the July 15 to Aug 15 bill is going to be near $250 because I had guest over the weekend. I put the thermostat at 72 degrees for them. Of course it didn't help that the temperatures ran 107. However there is a bright side. Normally my AC wouldn't be up to the task of keeping the whole house that cool but since I put in the solar screens it has no problem putting a good chill in the house if I want it....
Yesterday Texas used more electricity than it has all year.

You are the kind of customer that is 90% of our calls right now.
Let me guess you don't realize three things.
1) Natty gas has gone up and energy costs have gone up
2) You are a month to month rate possibly not on a contract so you absorb the flucations of the market due to not being on a locked in rate
3) You do not realize that this is the hottest summer we've had in a few years

damn. my electric bill is looking good compared to everyone elses :D
make me feel a little better.
i added solar screens to all my East and West facing windows. Helped ALOT.
the west windows have no blinds and my front office would literally be 85+. w/ the addition of the screens the room is now the same as the rest of the house.
good investment from what i can tell comparing my bill to everyone elses

I started this year off feeling pretty good about my bills at the new house (3BR, 1900 sq ft). They were below $120 all the way until my May bill. June it jumped to $300, then July it was $375!! I finally got off my ass and called Commerce to find out what happened. I did notice my usage was obviously up, but I noticed my rate had increased as well. After talking to them, I realized that my contract had expired back in November! I had been on a variable rate since then. I hadn't really noticed it, since the usage was so low during those months, but once the temps got up it was VERY noticeable! Anyway, I signed a new contract and things should settle back down. Just for comparison, the $375 bill would have been $220 had I called them LAST month and got this taken care of.

We jettisonned service with TXU about five years ago after deregulation became effective. If they happen to offer the best price once our contract is up I would have no problem going back to them, but that is very unlikely to occur considering TXU's pricing history.

3200 square foot 2 story home. 2 heat pumps, one is original from 1985, one is 3 years old. On Coserv and last bill was $400. Run upstairs and downstairs at 81 until 5:00, then upstairs gors to 79 to circulate air and downstairs goes to 77. Downstairs turn up to 80 at 10:00 p.m. and upstairs goes to 74 while we sleep and we have fans in each room.
Coserv would be cheaper butthey pass through a PCRF charge which is basically a charge back to each account for what it cost them to buy power. Usually adds another $100-$180 per bill or I would be a lot cheaper.

I would have to grab my last one but the PCRF charge just went up a bit last year and stayed up, I think it added around $150 to my bill. The overall Coserve rate (flat rate without PCRF ) is very low so far. With the PCRF it still comes out lower than a Reliant, or TXU, or Direct Energy.
I know I need some of my duct work re-wrapped so losing some cool air that way for dang sure.

If you were not given any documentation from her stating a contract term and rate from you might as well go online to www.powertochoose.com and shop around for the best rate and term for your situation. While on there, I recommend trying to find a provider that does not charge a base customer fee every month as well.

Ok I get what you are saying...I rolled that into just the charge as the cost of electricity the TDSP's/generation usually roles into how we calculate our rates.

Cost per kwh is what drives the train. Mine for instance is a flat 0.115/kwh.
For the period 6/25/08 through 7/25/08 our usage was 1641 kwh ($188.72) plus Sales Tax ($3.30), Gross Receipts Tax Reimbursement ($3.77), and PUC Assessment Tax ($0.31) for a total of $196.10.

Damon, sounds like you locked in a decent rate before fuel prices got out of hand... I agree it's all in the rate.... I had a contract that expired unbeknownst to me back in November. It was .09x per kw (which sounds REAL good right about now!) However, when it expired, it jumped to a variable rate which has run as high as .23 kw! I called them and signed a new contract at their current fixed amount of .145 or so per kw. My $375 most recent bill would have been $220 had I done this earlier. :o

Get ahold of a live, wet wire for a sprinkler zone and you might think differently :p

But yeah, insignificant juice usage as compared to the overall bill.

we started getting cocky thinking we will leave the AC on pretty cool all the time and see if that helps (it was taking a while for the house to cool down in the evenings) guess that cost us... look how we have tripled the usage in the last few months! But even with that its ok because we have a rate of .104pkwh so what should be a super high bill is only $300
