i am looking at picking up an 02 Honda 954rr tomorrow. i went for a short test ride on it today. i didn't spend much time on it, just enough to get a feel for the bike and the motor/drive train. since i didn't have the money to buy it, i didn't want to push it to hard in case something happened.

my initial thought was the bike feels kind of heavy and doesnt want to turn in at low speeds. once up to normal cruising speed it seems to be fine, may be still a little lazy. my initial thought was tire pressure. a buddy of mine had a 929 some years back and i spent some time on it. i never remember having any issues like this. i think the 954 is actually lighter than the 929 so this shouldn't be a problem, right? the guy selling the bike does have a pump and im going to take my own gauge with me to check the tires. any other thoughts on what could make the front end feel like its carrying a 20 lbs sack of potatoes?

Check front fork seals and if it's holding psi w/out dropping. I've been told hondas are good reliable bikes and rider friendly. I have a few friends that ride 954 and are good all around bikes. Also have the tires balanced to.

What condition are the tires in? If their flat-spotted or cupped really badly this can cause those symptoms.

i bounced the forks around a bit and they seemed to be in pretty good condition. i'll make sure to give the forks a good once over again just to make sure i didn't miss anything.

the tires are in ok condition imo. they should ride for a few thousand miles before needing to be replaced. i didn't check for flat spots and there was no cupping. ill make sure to look for flat spots.

anyone else have any recommendations?

Definately sounds like low tire pressure. I had a 954 and i remember it feeling very light on the front end

What kind and what size tires are on the bike?
Could also be the rear ride height is to low or the forks are to high in the triple clamp. Mal-adjusted pre-load settings can cause the same thing too.

He already figured it out (he's got another thread posted up). It was the tire pressure.
