If I was on two I would. If I was hauling balls I would wear leathers. Sweat isn't as irritating as skin grafts.

Was just having this conversation...saying that I want to ride up to the Super Streetbike/Colton deal tonight, but wouldn't want to gear up to do so, and don't really wanna ride without gear. Probably just compromise and wear only a helmet. Road rash heals.
I'm just gonna go thrash the 400EX for a while and call it good.

Thats what I was thinking. I was at a light and some guy rolls up on me tells me im crazy for wearing a jacket and helmet like 20 times before the light even turns green. Me personallyI just feel more comfortable when i ride with my gear on.

Just parked mine in the driveway after the 30 mile ride home from work, with helmet, jacket and gloves. Got stuck in traffic on 35 and was sweating my ass off. Plan on doing all over again tomorrow.

i saw some dumbshit riding down 183 earlier with his helmet strapped to the back of his bike, he was just wearing his shades over his eyes.
When i rode past, he tossed out the low-handed "peace" sign, i just pointed to my helmet and shrugged, then bounced.

I have got to get a mesh jacket though. I can ride "normal" now and just need one for mild cruising.
Get a shirt wet, throw it in the freezer, it helps for a minute :o

If you wanna buy my Joe Rocket alter ego (textile, unzips to leave mesh, has zip in/out liner too) i'll make you a deal on it. Never been down in it, hell i hardly wear it cept for winter time.

You are very smart. Only reason I am not riding now is because I would wear gear and its WAY too damn hot!!

Mesh Jacket, helmet, and gloves...always. If it's too hot for that, I won't ride at all.

I have spare helmets for chicks. Won't let them ride w/o one.
IF I HAVE TO, i'll give a chick my lid and ride w/o one to get home and pick up one for her. At that point, i'm more concerned about the well being of my passenger, and not myself.

Nope, its been well over 100 the past few days and I ride to work at the hottest part (between 4 and 5) and I still wear my leather jacket, gloves, boots and helmet.

Gay? How is that gay? If you ask me thats fucking horseshit. I'd love to see one of those guys go down with no gear on while going 60 down the highway and see if they ever let a girl ride 2 up with them w/ no gear ever again...

i got my tags for my bike on friday, and did not get my stang sold till fri night. I rode to weatherford fri night from saginaw with just helmet, and was very uneasy all the way there and back. The next day, had the wife go pick up a tourmasters mesh jacket with the rain liner and winter liner in it. I rode all day today with it on. I dont care if I sweat, I want to keep my skin if I go down. I had a guy at work tell me I was stupid for wearing it in the summer. I just told him there are two kinds of riders, those that........... and he asked me that when it is your time it is your time. I told him i dont wear the jacket to save my life, I wear the jacket so that when/if i go down, I dont get the wire brush scrub down from the nurse at the ER.

If its really hot i don't wear my jacket. I wear my helmet, gloves, and boots. But I need a new jacket now. But then again i normally only drive 10 miles to work and 10 miles back so its not too far. But then again anything can happen.

Compromise LOL!? Not worth the chance of road rash IMO but it's your skin not mine.

I think she's agreeing that giving up your helmet so that someone else can ride two up with you is a bad thing (gay). I know she's been down before so she'd be the last to argue about not wearing any gear.
Just my two cents, if I'm riding I wear my gear no matter how hot it is. I've ridden in shorts before and without a jacket and it just doesn't feel right to me any more. Hell riding in shorts on a hot summer day was just as hot wearing jeans with all the heat coming off the bike and road on my bare legs. Not worth it IMO. If it's to hot to gear up I'm not riding :)

I know, I was agreeing with her. I just said its not gay, its worse than that. Gay does not even begin to describe it. But if I ABSOLUTELY have to have someone on the back of my bike (i.e. their car is stuck) and I have to get them somewhere, they get the helmet first. If I fuck up and wreck my bike, they shouldnt have to pay for it.

I rode home today in full gear. I usally ride with my shield open and glasses on during the day unless I'm running over about 75. However, today was the first time that it was actually cooler with the shield down. The air coming into the helmet was just unbelievably HOT. Anybody else notice this. And yes I will be riding to work tomorrow in full gear. I was on the Dublin ride and if those two did not have their gear on one of them might not be here today.

Totally agree dude, although I don't in general have passengers as I do not want to be responsible for them.

Yup, I've experienced that a number of times when the air is so hot it's cooler to close the shield. Weird how that is sometimes. I'll also never fully open the shield (I'll crack it up just a little) unless I'm wearing some glasses on. Had a buddy take a bug in the eye and it did quite a bit of damage to him.

lol @ gear saving lives. Gear saves skin, helmet & spine protector saves your life.
I have read of ONE PERSON dying from complications due to road rash.

LOL unless it's leathers, it's hardly gear.
I've seen people in mesh/textile jackets go down and get bad burns from the material melting to them.

Yeah yeah, but the discussion is about wearing gear go save yourself from road rash.. not a brain/spine injury.

Helmet only when 90º +. I know damned well it's risky but I'll take it vs. burning alive.

even though it's been 100+, i've rode everyday that didn't look like rain. Everyday I wear my full face helmet, joe rocket mesh jacket (with armor in it), and gloves.
Of course, I've only been riding for like 5 weeks now but I figure just start with good gear habits that it will feel awkward if I try to ride with less on, just like getting in a car and not having a seat belt on. I have to do it everytime.
