Would I need a chl if I live outside the city limits to shoot an aggressive dog? We walk back on some trail and there is a couple of dogs that we are having issues with. Owners are pieces of shit.
I would be carrying it while on a walk of course.

Just by reading that I can tell that you do not need one.

If you want to walk around with it and be John Wayne, yeah, you kinda need one.

If you were carrying it in your car, you wouldnt need the CHL.

Maybe out in the country you can get away with it, but legally speaking you cant carry it on you without a CHL.

These dogs have cost me over 1k in vet bills and the county doesn't want to do shit. They have gone after many people/dogs. Legally, you can keep your dog off the leash running around. Animal control says there is nothing they can do.
They went after my wife and when she got away, they mangled my old dog pretty bad.
A 7 year old little girl got her face ripped off last year by some pits and no one even fessed up to owning the dogs.
I just want to protect myself if I need to since the county wont step up. These are 80lb dogs that run out at people walking down the street.
Im not interested in carrying a gun around on a regular basis. Just when I walk the dogs.

I thought about the tainted steak route but, I would feel better if killed them in defense.
Besides, I'd probably get caught and make things worse.

This thread reminded me of the Reno 911 episode... lol... The neighbor called 911 to put his dog asleep but really it was the next door dog... lol...

You can always kill animals in self defense. Just off it and enjoy your walk

carry a rifle, no law against that.

There ya go...

You might want to check with the county, but most of the time, unemancipated land (no municipality claim to it) allows people to carry. I know they do in Ellis Country. I even go uot there and shoot it up away from everyone.

UCW possibility, though.

We used to go to the TXI plant and shoot there in Ferris/Ellis County.
Have not been out there in a long time, but there were always quite a few folks out there when we used to go.

I just didn't want to freak out the neighbors walking with an AR/shotgun. :D I wish I could just shoot the owners instead. I hate when animals pay for owner negligence.

Just consider it a Lesson Learned for them.

Seriously, roll with 00 in a shotgun. That'll straighten the dogs out. BTW, what specifically are they doing? Are they attacking, or just barking to alert? I wouldn't kill them unless they pose a real threat, but if they did, I wouldn't wait too long to kill them.

Personally, I would get my deer rifle and take them out from a distance as to not alert anyone to my location, as in different direction than home. Whatever you do, do not talk to the owners about it any longer.

Just have a hunting license, if you are out in the boons on legal land, shoot the dog and say you were hog hunting. (You're allowed to carry pistols while hunting).

carry a fucking baseball bat with you and beat the hell out of the dog when it attacks. no CHL needed, no need to buy the fire arm and you will get plenty of satisfaction of killing the fucker manually. It is sad the dog will pay the price that the owners should but if you need to protect yourself, do it.

These are not the dogs that thrashed the little girl but, they got one of my dogs pretty bad... He's a 10 year old lab. My wife and other neighbors have had issues were they barely got away. I love dogs but owner negligence ruins aggressive breeds.
As much as i'd hate to shoot a dog, I'm sick of this shit going on and being worried about walking around my hood.

Good thing Labs have soft teeth!

Yes, it's a joke, if you missed the thread it wont make any sense.

If you have a 22 try out some shorts on them. If you get them in the dome they should work. They'll be relatively quiet also. You could always try the aguila calibri too. They are super quiet, primer driven. I used them to get rid of the cats that liked to walk on my car at night. Once again head shots will be necessary.

if you use a can on a .22 short, you can take down a dog within 20 feet and it's absolutely whisper quiet. The loudest part of the gun is the spring.

You can also use a chain mace.
