Looks like fun! A .458 SOCOM AR-15 is on my ever-growing list of guns to own.

I haven't looked it up, but does it use the same bullets as the .45-70?

Just buy the upper.

Just buy the upper.Yeah, I'll probably build a .223 first, and then get a .458 SOCOM upper for it later. I'd like to have an AR in 6.8 Remington SPC, too, but I think that involves more than just swapping uppers.

Why the 6.8 SPC?

Just wondering because the .223 has done everything I ask. If I need a larger round, I'll grab the .308...

I love my RRA 458... its the best at the range when you shoot it and everyone is like WTF!

Get you some magpul PMAGS 30rd and you can put more than 10 rds of 458 in them...very minor mod of the mag and they function better than that USGI mag

6.8 is just an upper change as well. Well an upper and of course mags. The 6.8 does everything the .223 does, just better. 6.8 shows a huge advantage in SBR applications also.

correction, just a barrel and bolt change ;) Best 'quick'caliber swap for the buck IMO

No correction needed....I said upper change. That generally entails barrel and bolt. That way you can switch at will between 5.56/.223 and 6.8.

I think it's .243 necked down to .224, so yes.
