So I'm planning on building a new system because mine is 6 years old and I'm looking for an upgrade, still going to use this one as a media player, but need something a little more up to date for games and the sort.

Getting to business: I'm looking at newegg.com and the damn website has about 10 different versions of windows xp, wtf?

A few questions:
-what are the advantages of pro vs. home?
-is the 64-bit version really much better?

Thanks,

-Jerred

Pro has some advanced security and networking features that are useful in a work environment. I would purchase Home, or Media Center Edition (if you are building a Home Theatre PC). As far as 64 bit version, if you are buying a 64 bit processor, that is the one you want, I don't think it has any improvements other than it allows you to use your 64 bit processor properly.

xp 64 bit has bad driver support. If you want to go 64 bit I'd recommend Vista 64bit.
