Laptop is dead

Surfing the net last nite and all of a sudden it just dies and goes black. Its a 3 yo compaq V2000. It wont power up with the battery or the power cord. Nothing on it works, no lights or anything. How do you diagnose laptops to figure out if its something worth fixing or just trash it and get a new one?

motherboard. If you are handy you can probably buy one off of ebay and replace it yourself. If you have someone fix it the cost probably won't be worth it. I used to replace motherboards on my old dell latitude all of the time, $89 apiece off of ebay LOL......

could be a bad power adapter or bad dc plug.

Throw it in the trash. Next time don't buy a Compaq or HP...they SUCK!!!
