Sweet In-Store Deals on LCD/Plasma TVs?

I was going to wait until Black Friday, but I've just about decided to pull the trigger on a flat screen in time for football season.

I don't really care if it's LCD or Plasma, as long as it is decent quality and a really good value. It needs to be at least 46", but I would prefer 50" or larger. I don't want Insignia or Westinghouse or anything like that. 1080p isn't necessary.

I'm looking to find the best local in-store price so I can have BB match it so I can do the no interest for two years deal.

I know some of you have your ears to the streets on this stuff, so help a brotha out!

In Sundays paper, I think it was circuit city....had a 50 or 52in samsung plasma for 1300 or so. I dont know much about TV's, but it seems like a decent price.:confused:

i just meant that i checked the price this morning. i hop on slickdeals.net every morning when i get to work to see what's out there. it was probably 7:30 or so this morning and it did show up as $950 for me which is why i posted it. guess sears changed the price now.

IMO its a good value and a good TV but not the best deal you can find. you should be able to find that deal pretty easily with a bit of looking online. you will be able to find an even better deal with some looking and patience

Don't get me wrong, they are still a quality TV, it just wont be "feature rich". Samsung has rolled out a 450,550,650,750, and now has rolled out an 8 and 9 series, the 9 series being the LED backlit. Oh and a new 6 series which isnt the 650 but an entirely new series, seems confusing for people looking to buy one but if you break it down by wants/needs it makes it easier. If you like Samsung sets but maybe don't wanna spend a lot of money, a 450 or 550 would probably be more fitting. Do a search of the differences on all the different series and you'll see what I mean. You said you were looking to put it in a secondary room and 720p is good with you, I'd definitely buy one of these if you are wanting a quality set for a decent price. Plus keep in mind there is a 60 day price match guarantee on HDTV's at BB. Sorry for the long winded response.

yea but it doesn't necessarily mean it wont be at best buy or cant be price matched at best buy. most of the deals i find online are at frys and i can always get some clown at CC to price match that shit.

I was saying that you should be able to find a 1080p at that size or close to it, for the same price. Personally, that's the type of TV that is normally put in ad's to get people in the store at lower prices, which is fine. I just think you could do better for your money. Wait until this Friday, or even better a couple of weeks or so from now, when they really start advertising TV's for the upcoming college/pro season.

I'll never need 1080p on this TV or in this room. I don't need a ton of features, either. It's just going in the pool table room so I can put sports on it when people ar over and in that room playing pool. In fact, it will probably only see use on the weekends. It will never be used for watching movies or anything like that, as most people in the room will be standing/moving around anyway. I have 1080P with a PS3 in my main living room.

I picked this up at BB last night for $1099. They gave me no hassle matching the Fry's/Sears price. I got it hooked up and mounted (very simple) and I was actually impressed with the picture quality via satellite. I'm very, very pleased with the purchase, and I feel like I got a good deal. I actually got 36 months no interest, which doesn't really matter because I plan on paying it off by Black Friday so I can hopefully score an even better deal on another flat panel for the bedroom. I don't buy anything big online, period. I didn't feel like waiting around and watching ads for the chance to save $50. I may peek at the ads here and there over the next 60 days so I can get the price matched if it dips lower, but I'm stoked over the whole thing as it is.

Fry's in Irving has an open box 73734 they're doing 5% off of the $1799, making it almost $1700, which is a ridiculously good price for a 73" of that caliber. I know you're big on BB for the credit, so go to Fry's shop around and have them match it.

Ya, no shit! And I can vouch for the quality of these Samsungs. If you don't need 1080p, they're tough to beat. The picture quality has been better than I expected.

The only drawback is the glossy screen. If you have any lights or windows in the room you will get glare.

Just did the deal at the BB at Irving Mall. They tried to fight me on it, saying it was below their cost. Meanwhile, their policy was in writing and posted all over the place. There were no exculsions that applied to this TV, so in the end they honored the deal on both TVs.

yea, i dont get it, most of the really good deals (aka fry's) are well below BB's and CC's employee cost prices (which is supposed to be what the company paid for the tv plus its transport costs).

there has to be some kind of backend money on these TVs otherwise why sell non profitable items? either that or "cost" isnt really cost.

I'm willing to bet that BB/CC/Fry's and et al customer-facing employees, don't really see the true "costs", but it's just a gimmick to sell customers on a perceived value.

I believe the costs are probably close to the same, with BB probably getting the lowest costs, based on their amount of stores. However, I tend to feel like Fry's focuses on moving more units than focusing on profit per unit, like Best Buy.

I go to Fry's because of their prices, not customer service.

I go to BB (not really, but for illustration purposes) because of their customer service, knowledge and their all-inclusive setup help. That's exactly what they advertise as being too and to stay competitive, they throw in the price matching.

Just my $.02 though.

It's the 50A450. It's Samsung's base model plasma series, but the recent line, not old stuff. I like the crap out of mine. It is not 1080p or 120hz though. In a well-lit room you'll have glare because it's a glossy screen. I've only had my first one for about two weeks so I can't comment on reliability or longevity, but it's a Samsung. The picture is great - better than I expected out of a TV for this price.

I was initially all about plasma but my living room has a TON of windows that glare really bad on the glass from tv that is in there now. Perhaps LCD is the way to go for that room. I may still buy the 42 for the bedroom and the exercise room though.

Any good LCDs on sale right now? I need something that can still play SD well since I only have OTA HD channels. I thought I saw an article recently that said tv prices were about to drop by several hundred dollars...maybe I should wait.

Well I have a 60-something tv in the game room that I usually watch. But when I am downstairs I have been wanting something nicer. There is alot of light/windows in the living room (where the 50 would live). I have shades but they don't seem to help with the current tv; which can be almost unwatchable during the day.

Slickdeals was just posting another retail store's price so people could do a price match. It's not actually being sold by slickdeals.

The finance terms don't mean shit to me. They'll be paid off within the next couple of weeks.
