Barack Obama told House Democrats on Tuesday that as president he would order his attorney general to scour White House executive orders and expunge any that "trample on liberty," several lawmakers said. Presidents, as head of the executive branch of government, issue such orders to direct operations of executive branch agencies, like the Justice Department and the CIA. For example, President Bush used an executive order last year to breathe new life into the CIA's controversial terror interrogation program that allowed harsh questioning of suspects. Obama "talked about how his attorney general is to review every executive order and immediately eliminate those that trample on liberty," said Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y.

He is going to take control of this country HIS way, not by history's way.

Basically he's talking shit that he won't follow through with. Just like he didn't follow through on the new wiretapping rules..

What's this? Obama mentioning a broad, poorly defined objective and failing to provide any details of what he means or how he intends to accomplish it? Hmm, that's a new one.

Eliminating Executive Orders.....What's next? Renaming the Bill of Rights?

This guy still continues to not amaze me at what a radical leftist liberal he is.

Let's be soft on interrogation techniques of terrorist and international criminals because we don't want to dehumanize them in any way.

It's time to pray for America. Say goodbye to her if Obama wins in Nov.

The replacement will probably be worse than the original.

yeah, you'd have to cap a lot of them at the top before you'd work your way down the chain of command to someone worthwhile.

But I do agree that if he wins and starts in with some of his plans it is likely that he will be leaving the office one way or another.

(note to federal agents reading this thread. This is merely an observation/pure speculation on my part; I have no plans to off obama).

Giving power to a Democratically-controlled Congress.

yeah, a president who wants to limit their own power? It's sad how people are willing to believe whatever comes out of his mouth and never stop to think "Really?"

His own ignorance won't let him limit his power. He is letting his head get way out of control.

But.... I find it hard to believe none of his "let's drink the kool aid" followers have actually stopped to think "Is this really something that someone would do?"

Wrong...expunge means all PREVIOUS orders.

I just hope his VP is someone that we won't off after we bury barrack. Reason being is the chain of dumbasses eventually gets to Nancy Pelosi! That is a scary fucking thought.

Don't know if you guys caught my post from a few days ago about him picking al gore as VP to make sure that BO didn't get off'd! :o

WRONG expunge means to strike or blot out; erase; obliterate....thats from the dictionary

even better if he gets the previous ones too, but the statment says any White House order, that means his too if he is elected

To give the Liberal Congress more control, like I said. His motive isn't doing the right thing, it's getting his way, ultimately.

I bet the first one he would nix is Reagan's oil and gas deregulation bill. The very first thing he did when he was sworn in, it arguably turned the whole economy around and by lowering energy and fuel prices.

"This nation is not energy poor, it is energy rich!"

Ronnie had follow-through.

Well, we've had 8 years of BUSH's bull shit, might as well go all the way to Alah, with McCain. 8 more years, and we can kiss the USA good by, and learn to speak, Arab, or Chineese.

Opposed to Obama who is already sucking the dick of the rest of the world?

You should consider post term abortion as a way out.

The AG is just being tasked to cut the fat off of the Executive Power, thus giving Congress more say. That is the ONLY role the AG will play. Go read before you speak, please.

cannonball996
08-01-2008, 11:37 AM
think about this, the president will be turning over an executive order to the AG, who would then have the power to cancel it, reconstruct it, trim it up, or let it go through, with no over site. thats a lot of power. the president also gets to pick his AG.

unless congres stand together 2/3s which neighher party has, there is not much they can do to stop an executive order
