Well, I've ended up with a Powerbook G4 Titanium DVI, and it has a broken hinge, bad battery, and possibly an invertor for the LCD out.

anyone know of a good parts place with decent prices? I'd like to get this thing running again.

Matt, depending on when the G4 was purchased you may be able to get an exchange for the battery. I know they had a recall on bad batteries that shipped out. My pops had the same thing happen to his when he first got it.

this battery looks like it was dropped, got a dent in the cover.

Also, do the fans move a decent ammount of air? Would you know they were on if you put your hand over the outlets?

This thing locks up randomly, and I'm thinking it's overheating

Yeah the fans move a decent amount of air and you should feel that it's on if you put your hand over it. I know it's hard to tell with the fan though cause ours is quiet as hell. My guess is that Apple didn't opt for the best fans in them, ours warms up pretty quick but we have yet for it to lock up on us. We have 3 different mac laptops, an iBook, Powerbook G4, and now a Macbook Pro and aside from the battery issue with the powerbook we haven't had any problems with them.
