View Full Version : Text Devices - RF - Not a Phone

Typically we all relate this to cell phones or something that requires a cellular plan. I need a couple of radios that have the range of standard walky talkies, but that does text. I'd like something weatherproof but that is not REQUIRED.

I need this to be able to text someone while deer hunting. We want to be able to call the day off, check status, and so forth. We've used radios, but in the woods it might as well be a bullhorn - especially when it is just snowing with no wind or other nature generated noise makers.

Cheap would be preferred - but not necessary if it'll last a few seasons. Remember, no cell signal in this area so it'll have to be RF. I'm not 100% sure RF can support text though and have not done my due diligence on that matter yet. Just looking for suggestions if anyone has one.

Take care

hehehe, Good idea on the plane. :)

That walkie-talkie seems cool. At least I know there is something out there. I'd be all over it if the range was a little bit higher. I'd bet 1000' range in wooded mountains is really 200'.
