Is it possible? I bought the wifey a new laptop, and we need to transfer all her music to the laptop, without using a disk, because my desktop does not have a burner. Help please! :(

Ok, call me retarded if you want, but how do you do that? I'm not a computer media person. :D

Go here (http://www.4shared.com/) sign up and upload them. You get 5gigs per account and it's free. When you get done, download them to the new puter.
You'll thank me later.

Easiest way is to use an external hard drive. Theyre very easy to you use, and not only can you use it to back up your music, you can use it to back up all your other personal files, pictures, ect.

If you do not have one, they're a must have for anyone IMO.

you can pick up a cheap USB drive... or setup and adhoc network between the two computers.

The quickest way is to set static IP addresses on the computers and connect them to each other.

You may need a cross-over cable depending on how old the "old" computer is but you can move them directly from one to the other...

I can put together a quick tutorial if you like. I cant do it for a couple hours though...

The computers are networked.
My music will show up on the lap top but it's listed under 'shared music- James'. I'm not able to get it into the music library. Will it transfer over when I connect the ipod or will it wipe everything off the ipod?

First make sure iTunes is installed on the new computer. Then, since they're networked, you just need to share the iTunes folder. Unfortunately it's in your "My Documents" folder, which I'm pretty sure you can't share.

You'll probably have to drag it out (and out of Documents And Settings entirely) somewhere else on the drive (not to the desktop either). Once it's shared and it shows up in Network Neighborhood, copy the entire thing to the new computer, and the use it to overwrite the iTunes folder on the new computer.

That will copy all music, playlists, play counts, star ratings, album art, etc.

If you just copy the music files over, without the library files, you'll have to start all over if you've made any playlists.
