i have a big live oak in my front yard, and there are literally thousands of little oak trees popping up in a 6' radius around it. besides digging them up by hand, is there any way to kill them? the grass doesn't grow very good there in the shade, so it doesn't choke them out.

any ideas? the squirrels don't seem to be doing their job!

I have a similar issue, my burr oak drops zillions of acorns and then I have little oak trees popping up. Mower seems to take care of them :D

Try that brush/vine killer stuff. Comes in a spray bottle at Lowes/Home Depot.

or we could send my ex over there... she killed everything she ever tried to grow, so this shouldn't take more then a week or so to cure haha

Keep running over it with your lawn mower. Oryou could just go get some weed killer. On the back, the one I have says "Caution. Keep away from trees and anything you don't want dead." I love it

Another vote for the mower. We had oaks when I was growing up. If my dad wanted one to make it he would stake off around it and not mow there. All the rest of them got death by mower!

Those are suckers from the roots of the main tree. It is a genetic mutation. They will usually grow in sunlight. Do not try to use an herbicide on these suckers, you will kill the tree.

Options:
1. MOW.
2. Treat them as a ground cover
