View Full Version : Have you ever seen a pumpkin fly?

turbostang

I did, last night..

That pumpkin was flyin' with the new turbo.

5.45@128 1.32 60' on 275/60/15 drag radials!!

I guess that new turbo did the trick! (of course the 2950lbs helps a lot as well)

88MM, custom built blah blah...

This is a stock 351W roller block and stock crank btw.

One other thing...you think it'll be a 78 or 80 in TS next year?

If you did have an 80, do they allow sleeves?

Glad y'all like the times! The best thing is how the car goes perfectly straight, every pass, every time. I wish I would have brought the video camera. :(

We backed that pass up with a 5.461 @ 127.61 with a 1.332 60' time. :D

Now time for the wheelie bars and slicks!!!

The car looked damn good last night. Now put the 76 back on there and lets go a few rounds in truestreet.

Why not sleeve this new "mutt" turbo and come play in TS? Plus the weight will only make it leave harder ;)

Yeah, I think for us to hang next year we're going to have to go solid roller and crank that bitch up a notch or 2. If T/S gets much faster they'll have to combine the 2 classes, lol.

76mm rule in T/S is such horseshit. Especially compared to the nitrous rules. At least give a damn 80mm for crying out loud.

You forget that I've ran that class in the past. I stopped showing up and sold my turbo for this exact reason. Whatever, according to some people we're all just non-tuning idiots that don't know what the hell we're doing. :)

I think clifton is the only turbo car to race this year and that was 1 time. BTW what did that car MPH at ttt5 on a so-so pass? One race to me doesnt do any justice for rules because you wont have the combo ironed out in that one race. Shit its taken us 3 years to be in the ballpark with these guys and the tires were alot of it. Why not go race that way ttt5 has a base to go off of rather than the 1 time they saw a turbo or by what people say. We dont mph with them but were still "competetive" et wise. When rules come up next year i hope we'll have some say being that were consistatly down 4-6 mph. I do agree the rules need changing.

PS i just read clifton's thread on turbo mustangs and if it runs that good with a 75mm they may be moving yall down in turbo size :p . 128 is moving. Add the 200# and I bet it doesnt slow down a bit.

turbostang
07-28-2008, 10:28 PM
I can promise you that 260# of dead weight will slow it down 6-8 MPH and 3 tenths - or more. Most of which will come from the converter bieng so-so to slipping 30% +.

One race? What about the dozen other outings and 75 passes on this car? We've been out every weekend and several Wednesdays in the past few months.

In full T/S trim it managed a 5.99@118 I believe.

What about the 30+ passes i have made in the last 3 months in true street trim and only mustered a .9x out of it? Im not showing up unless I have atleast a chance, anything else is just pissing money away.

Good looking car and Nice runs man!

Seems to me TTT5 could lose some weight off the cars right now and just see how less weight on the trannies affects them in competition.

Id try 3150 split the difference and see what happens. Help the parts live longer and give the turbo cars a little bump for now.

I think the weight is the best interim solution. It doesn't seem to affect the nitous car converters as bad... but in our case(s) it KILLS it quick. It will pick up several hundred RPM's worth of slippage.

I think at 3100 we could give them a run for thier money!
