He's giving a speach to "latino veterans". He's wanting to issue vets a card that will allow them to bypass the VA for heathcare, and allow them to seek out private physicians of thier own choosing. That is awsome.

My mother is a case manager for the VA in Lancaster. I always get to hear the horror stories that happen there. Things like elderly vets being mistreated, neglected, and abused by the nursing staff. People being forgotten about for a day or two at a time. Left to sit in thier own feces and urine. An old friend of mine, who was special forces in vietnam, was a guinea pig for reconstructive surgery after being wounded. They botched the job and now he refuses to even step foot in a VA. He would rather die than go to one. If McCain can make this reform happen, it would be awsome. I'm not a vet or ever served, but many in my family fought in WW2. When they needed help, the VA was the last choice. ANyhow, i'm rambling... Go McCain!

most vets would pay for a doctor if they had the choice, they know how bad tax paid doctors are(i.e examples above)

Cause the vets need our support. I am in no way in favor of nationalized healthcare, but in the case of the vets I have no problem paying for their health, but when the docs are screwing things up, I would much rather bump up the vets pay and have them go to their own docs.

Uncle Sam makes every enlistee a deal, you get hurt we will take care of you. The only problem is there are so many free loading worthless pieces of shit that the government is broke so the VETS lose out.

Always remember "The military is a DICTATORSHIP protecting your right to a democracy". You should thank God every night that there are men and women willing to do this.

So from your description, McCain wants to reform the VA (or disband the VA and create a new agency) into more of an insurance role instead of provider. I am all for that if it provides better health care for those folks that fought for our freedom and the spread of liberty.

No one deserves to be taken care of by taxpayers more than our vets! Not even your basic Senator that never served in the military.

He didn't mention doing away with the VA, just giving the vets a choice in the matter. The VA would work so much better if they didn't have to deal with the simpler things like flu shots, colds, and other things you would normally go see a family doctor for. I don't know if you've ever been to the VA in Lancaster, but that place is crowded all the time. Its hard enough to just go have lunch up there, i couldn't imagine having to deal with getting admitted or just an appointment.

Hey, cannonball, I have a question for you. Why would you buy puts on the underlying physical (adjusted for delta neutral, of course)? What would a supplier have to do in order to create the perfect hedge in this situation?

01WhiteCobra
07-25-2008, 06:26 PM
Hey, cannonball, why am I currently holding $95 puts on oil? Do you think I'm stupid? What do I have to watch for to keep from getting screwed out of my $700 profit per options contract?

01WhiteCobra
07-25-2008, 06:44 PM
Sorry, cannonball, for my ignorance. I'm thinking oil is going to be heading down so I'm looking to finally get out of the puts (buying a contra). It is getting pretty close to my "pressure point" for bulls so I'm looking to take another position and consider, for the moment, oil is bearish.

Do you think I should employ a Bull Call Spread or a Bear Call Spread? I do think as it gets to 115-116 there might be some volatility in the market as the bears and bulls fight. Do you think, maybe, watch the market on Monday and employ a Long Straddle on Tuesday or Wednesday?

Thanks in advance.

I know for me, I drive 3 hours to Lancaster, sometimes 3 times a week for anything from neurology, to speech and audio therapy, to shrinks to doctor visits. This would give me the option of using the local doctors and save me money on gas and having to get people to drive me.

I was basing that on how I read the description given by the OP...I have not seen, heard, nor read the speech yet, so I don't really know what his thought is.

I lookat at it as EARNED healthcare. We (the taxpayers) are just paying back what this country owes.

^^ agree whole heartedly. I don't even have health care for myself (will next week...) but i wouldn't mind one fucking bit if there was a tax to pay for vet healthcare. Not fucking Shaniqua or Maria or Kemendbjo.. but the soldiers. They deserve our best care upon their return stateside, for the remainder of their life.

Lancaster and Rosedale both blow ass, everytime I've had an appoitment up there it makes me sad to see some of the older vets up there. The wizards at Rosedale are all fucking idiots too.

...do you really think that the liberals want better healthcare for vets?, let only america?

My uncle lived in Canada (died last june). There government is known as socialistic, also is their health care. He was in a hospital getting treratment for his cancer etc. The hospital became overcrowded and he had to be sent home. 1 1/2 weeks later he died.

So no, socialistic hospitality for the PUBLIC is not a good thing, in my eye. :(

I don't have a problem with that. Vets deserve access to quality healthcare. That's something your tax dollars pay for that you can feel good about. .
