I think his best chance to "equalize" the balance of "pro's vs con's" in his ability to run the country are to pick Romney.
That's what I'm hoping anyway.
Thoughts?
David
Very well-placed sources told FOX News late Monday that John McCain’s campaign has had discussions recently about the merits of the expected Republican presidential nominee unveiling his choice of a running mate this week while rival Barack Obama is overseas.
One source with direct knowledge of the senator’s thinking and of the campaign’s machinations said no announcement will be made Tuesday morning but another top insider suggested the media not throw cold water on the idea that McCain could announce his vice presidential pick this week. Still a third source said unless McCain wakes up in the next two days with a decision, chances are “remote.”
Asked about the odds of announcing a vice presidential pick on Tuesday, McCain brushed off the question during a plane ride with reporters to New Hampshire, giving only a mischievous grin.

I think McCain needs a real conservative, I don't know if Romney is conservative enough, though I think he could help mccain.

I would like Powell as well. Unfortunately, his political aspirations are over.

He is FAR from "conservative", plus he and McCains "idea's" on the war, clash.

McCain is a bit liberal for a republican, I think he needs someone to the right of him, and yonger

Both McCain & Romney have gravitated toward the "right" in the past year or two. Romney would help McCain in his [weak] Economics area, and would also help him in some key states, such as MI.
He's (Romney) younger, very intelligent, an excellent speaker, and strong when challenged.
McCain is a sub-par speaker, hot tempered, and weak on economics but his strength in foreign affairs, along with Romney's [strong points] would be a better ticket for the GOP, IMHO.

I guess I'll answer it this time.

Rmoney's biggest draw backs, he is not a social conservative, not a christian and from a state that allows gay marriage.
McCain is not exactly a social conservative either with his views on abortion, so I think he needs someone who is socially conservative but also has a economic background

Yup. Mormons fuck like rabbits, have multiple wives, and are crazy as fuck.
They're not too shabby, until you get to the crazy part...
He needs to pick either a woman, minority or a Muslim. I'll take Alan Keyes for the hell of it.

Yes, you are correct, Romney is a Mormon (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ).

That's why I think Condi would be the PERFECT running mate for him. She's got two of those three bases covered, without being Muslim.

because they mention Jesus in their name that makes them christian? what about their magical profit, joseph smith?
so their religion is build apon the new testimate, but so is Islam (they actually mention jesus a lot!) does that make muslims christians too? no it does not, you cant twist around the christian religion, take some things out, add a few new books that the indians gave you, and still be christian.

He's not even close to being ready. At McCains age, it needs to be someone that is prepared to be the Prez. Shit happens, and 72 year-old men fall over dead every day.

I have and totally agree... BIG difference - "in worshiping". ;)
Going by cannonball's statement that "you cant twist around the christian religion, take some things out...", this would segregate all Christian denominations. Who is to say which rules apply and which do not?
There very well may be a "standard" for being a Christian, but I just haven't seen it. My belief (right or wrong) is that a Christian is one who chooses to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. Mormons have done so.
Now on the other hand, they certainly are jacked in some of their beliefs and may very well "burn in hell" for it, but that's not for me to decide.

Joe Smith's "visions" were the results of the high fever he suffered from syphilis. He was ran out of Missouri by a mob of pissed off farmer's daughter fathers. He was an egotistical pedophile much like David Koresh. The plaque that holds "the key" to the Morman faith is nothing more than an ancient middle eastern gravemarker. When interpreted to be such by morman researchers it resulted in their deaths by multiplle car bombs. When settling Utah, the mormans sent out "death squads" after other pioneers refused to convert and killed them. The people of the morman church worshiop and follow the teachings of Joe Smith...not Christ. The morman faith is a crock of shit. I would say IMO, but facts is facts.

I think it's funny/sad that he's "threatening" to name a VP this week. The only reason they're saying he might, is because of all the press Obama is getting. McCain landed in New Hampshire the other night to campaign, and there was 1 reporter and 1 photographer there to greet him. I'm pretty sure his campaign looked at that and said "we need him to do something big!" But the problem is... if he picks a VP now, no one will watch the convention. All suspense will be gone.
As far as who he's gonna pick... if he picks Rudy, it'll be a liberal Republican ticket, but lets face it... all of you Republicans are going to vote for it, either way. With Rudy, he stands a chance to win NY, which would really throw the Democrats for a loop.
On the downside, that ticket would have more ex-wives than King Henry XIII. With one being a cousin!

Yes and no. They believe that Christ is essentially a man from another world that was promoted for the life he lived there and was born of woman, but that God brought Himself down and knocked Mary up. Satan, in their terms, is Jesus's brother and Joseph Smith was the first modern prophet, although he was charged with treason and murdered by an angry mob.
So in essence, the 'Christ' they are accepting is not viewed as God in the Flesh, but more flesh created by the guy that was promoted to godhood from his previous world.

its more then just a few tweeks on the story of Jesus...they believe that Jesus was reborn to the indians in north america, that he had a whole other life, with contradicting teachings to the Jesus we know from the gospel.
