What do you mean by going crazy? I get false K all the time, all over the metroplex. A lot of automatic doors apparently use K. From my experience, Ka is ALWAYS a cop.

8500's will sometimes display "self cal" often or "service reqd". It will need to be sent in for service which is approx $60.

nah this one when i'd pull into my house or be driving down the road would just randomly freak out KA+++++ (all the way up) and not let up until i unplugged it.

I held the 3 buttons while turning it on and reset everything, and it seems to be working today....

Yea, one thing mine would do is go off around EVERY school bus it gets near. I guess they carry some transmitter on the buses that keeps track where they are or something but most of the time when I am heading to work and a k-band goes off....I can look around and see a school bus going down the road.

Ok.. so it's been a week.

I was driving my moms ride for a week to commute between bedford and justin.. so of course i took the 8500. It worked flawlessly in my mom's 07 vibe. never false alarmed me or anything.

got back in my truck last night and plugged it up, BAM, instant full KA. I swapped it from the power to the lighter port to see if there was any difference, of course it was doing the same shit. I went ahead and moved it from the lower middle of my windsheild to up above the rearview now. Though i haven't driven it much today, i *think* it's fixed. Could my radio be doing something? what about the windsheild wipers? :o

My dad has an 8500 and everytime he honks his horn, the laser goes crazy. I've had mine where if I hit the accelerator WOT, the laser will go crazy. Talk about slamming on the brakes the first few times it did it. LOL!

Mine does the EXACT same thing. That's why I like that you can turn it off. I called and they said it would cost 60 bucks to fix it but I think Im just going to swap it out for a new one and get a credit. Other than that I've LOVED the unit. Kept me out of a bunch of tickets.

Do you have an alarm with a proximity sensor?

Yes, horns and full throttle acceleration on some vehicles will cause laser false.

I think it depends on the unit. I think its anywhere from 40-80 bucks as a trade in. I've heard if you call them you can even get more if you haggle with them a bit to get you into a new unit.
