How much data is typically on most blu-ray discs that you can buy or rent? Do they really use all or most of that 50gb available capacity or do they use only around or under 25gb? Just curious if anyone has checked out of pure curiosity ;)

Movies are typically between 25-40gig. Some of the old (Blazing Saddles) movies are smaller. 15-25gig
They can be made smaller though. ;)

Yeah it really depends on how recently they were shot and with how new/high quality the equipment used to shoot it was. Blu-Ray video is typically raw, uncompressed video, so it is very large.
