I am looking at a pair of Diamond audio m551 components for the front and some decent 5x7s to fill the rear in my 99. Typically whats the best way to do the setup in the front? Move the tweeter down with a plate with the mid? Or leave it where it is. Can a 1" tweeter be made to fit in the Mach location? Or am I just going about this all wrong.....Someone help me please:D

I would put a plate in the door to hold the woofer and the tweeter. The factory location for the tweet is way too high IMO.
If you build a panel in the factory location, the tweeter must be mounted below the mid or it will be blocked by the door panel.
<-----Speaks from experience.
I have Boston Pro components in the front of my 98, and the 1" tweeter is up in the window pod on teh door. The crossover box (I think that's what it is :D) is mounted inside the door frame.
If I placed the tweeter down low, it seems like it would screw up the staging and be easily blocked by my (or my passengers) legs. Best to get it up and free of any blockage.

Incorrect. You never want you tweeter more than a few inches from the mid range driver. Any futher would introduce problems in the staging. Also with the tweet being up that high, you will hear more of the tweet then you will of the mid. Unless you have something like the MB Quart crossovers that have adjustable tweeter settings (3dB, 6dB down )
Just remember the higher the frequency, the more directional it becomes.

Well, I'd get some kickpanels to get your imaging correct first. Diamonds sound kick ass (better than Boston Pro's IMO) but for that cash get some JL XR seperates cheaper and sound awesome. I just got a set of 5.25" for $180

Heehee, hey Chris whatup...
Boston's do sound kick ass (and take up to 400w rms!) I just liked the sounds of the Diamonds' highs.
Can you adjust the tweeter level on the Bostons...maybe that was why they sounded more midbass than highs...
Chris's car is loud like a mo-fo too! He knows his shit.
