...apparently he's real good. He hit .363 with 17 HR and 50 RBI At Double A Frisco this year. Washington said he will start at 1rst base today. The Rangers have great talent in their system and this is one of the top guys.

He ended up 0-3 in his first big league game.

Helluva difference between AA and the "Bigs"...
Pudge was the last Ranger I remember that came straight from AA (Tulsa), and pretty much fit right in with the big boys.

I saw him it that 17th bomb on Friday night. He is a stud down in AA, why not give him a shot. I think he is the reason they let (can't think of his name) that other catcher go instead of Gerald Laird. I think Salty did a good job the other night when the Rangers lost in extra innings. That pitcher (don't remember who it was, maybe Wright) was throwing some wild ass shit in extra innings with men on, and Salty was coming up with the blocks and scoops. Not sure how long Laird has left on his contract, but if Ramirez can produce at the place, consider Laird gone.

Barajas was and still is better than Laird.

that was my point, they knew they had Salty and Ramirez waiting so they didn't want to give him a big deal, so they kept Laird because he is serviceable.

Barajas averaged .253 in Texas with around 40 RBIs (best was 60).
Laird averages the same most years, but this year is hitting .306 and averages almost 60 RBIs; not only that, he's one of the best bunters in the game, whether it's for a base hit or a sacrifice.
I'm missing the link where Barajas is significantly (if at all) better than Laird; defensively they might as well be a draw as well.

Barajas just seemed to come through more when they needed him than Laird did.

how can you say they suck? Ramirez was a stud in the minors and has barley played? It isn't like the Rangers have been counting on the catcher to be a cornerstone of their offense since Pudge.

I just feel like being negative. I'm still bitter about them letting Pudge go. Cocksuckers.

pudge is still better than all of them put together.

I have a ticket package with the Riders, and this guy was having a great season. Their system is loaded with position players, and finally some pitchers thanks to the trade with the Braves. Just look in the areas in the field and what they have present now or on the way up:
Outfield: Hamilton and Boggs with Mayberry lurking at 3A
Infield: Kinsler, Young, and Duran with Elvis Andrus still learning at 2A and Chris Davis at 3A
Catcher: Salty and Ramirez
This group is going to be good shortly if they can develop/sign pitching.

Yup, these are the big talent guys just waiting for a spot. I have even heard that Andrus could be ready this year if needed. Davis is ready and we will probably see some of him at some point in the 2nd half.
