hey i was wondering if there is like a home test i could do so i can gauge my progress to be a little more detailed.. would this be an accurate measurement of body fat percentage?

just ask a personal trainer at your gym to do it...
if not, they have handheld ones that aren't too bad. you'll have a starting point and can base your progress off the difference in the numbers.

Im getting a comparison of the electrical impedance meter vs calipers tomorrow...we will see how close it is.

i looked up a few types of scales and got some good reviews on this one... not too expensive

The formula above has me at 15%
My home scale says 8.5%
The hand held one at the gym says 11.5%
Since im bulking back up for a meet i'd guess im back up to 12% now.

I got pinched yesterday at 11.5 I wonder what it really is.

Should be between 10-14 then. That's pretty damn good, you working out a lot?

I try and stay active. I am not a gym rat by anymeans but I am there at least 3-4 days a week. Just trying to stay healthy and fit.

dang those numbers fluctuate significantly! what would u recommend thats fairly inexpensive? a fat caliper? or which handheld would u recommend?

calipers are only as good as the person using them. Im working on the numbers..its not me thats getting measured, its a friend.

Well, i like the little hand held electrod ones. You can get them fairly cheap i think. They only measure the upper body, but most people dont carry more fat in their legs. haha
They say that the hand held one is within 2% BF. Either way it's pretty accurate if you do it more than once on the same day if you know what i mean. I can sit there are enter my info and it will come out with the same % over and over.
Therefore if you drop from 15% to 12% over a couple months or whatever, then you lost 3% wether is perfectly accurate on the body fat from the start. I hope that makes since.
