Dumb question time.

I moved closer to Downtown. I now live right behind lower Greenville. I want to be able to take something like a scooter any time I need to go somewhere besides work, if at all possible. This includes the occasional trip to Deep Ellum, grocery stores, etc.

What is the requirements for liscense plates, and liscensing? Surely I won't have to get a different type of license, will I? And what's the point, motor/size-wise, that I have to put a liscense on it. Do I have to have insurance on it? I'm even looking at a tiny one, that's more like a bike with a motor mounted on it, like this:

Gay, I know. But I'm just shy of being able to walk everywhere, and with gas and parking in the area, I'd rather get something like that.

Thanks in advance, sirs.

not sure what you are looking to spend but Honda makes a scooter that looks decent. Honda Ruckus 49cc they are 2 grand new so Im sure they are cheaper used.

I think you still need a license plate/registration, but there's no license, insurance, etc required for sure.

I would roll the shit out of a scooter if I lived somewhere like that. I would put a handbrake on it and wheelie it EVERYWHERE :D

There is a place here in Longview that is selling 200cc street bikes for $1400. They are big enough for me to ride and I'm 6'1" 208lbs. I would rather have that than a scooter for running around town.

I know you are looking for somethng that will be under the radar of laws, but I would feel safer riding something that will keep up with traffic.
