What are the ups and downs on it? Would it be a good first bike? I know its not a gixxer, but it is remotely close? Just trying to see if i should but the one i have my eyes on. its new and candy plasma blue.

The "Suzi" gang is killin' me! My concern would be that you'll wish you'd gone bigger. It happens to some folks almost immediately. If it does happen, you'll be upside-down with what you owe, and you'll be stuck with it. I'm sure it's a fine bike.

i'd like to get a gsxr600, r6, or cbr600, but i cant find them in the $4k-$5k range. I saw this one out the door at $4379 and loved the fact that it had no miles. gonna get a bike within the next four weeks, so i have that much time before i decide what to get. does the dealer on the side of I-30 close to 635 have a pretty good selection. i think its called suzuki kawasaki of mesquite. been meaning to stop there before getting to work.

first off, you shouldn't compare it to a gsxr 600 or cbr600, or r6. it's in a different class. the equal to those bikes would be the ninja zx6r, which is kawasaki's supersport bike.

the 650R is a ninja, yes, but not a supersport bike. It's more of a standard sport bike. The riding position is more upright since it uses different kinds of bars. Also, the 650R will be nowhere as quick light as the supersports (r6, zx6r, 600rr, gsxr600). It uses a different type of motor, the parallel twin, whereas the others have an inline 4 cyl making more power. The parallel twin of the 650r is rated at 71 hp, and the inline 4's in the others are upwards of 105hp.

but don't let all that discourage you from the 650r. it is an excellent beginner bike that you won't grow out of too fast and and awesome commuter and overall bike. It has a really torquey motor that makes it easier getting in and out of traffic, and a more comfortable riding position that won't hurt your wrists, back, etc. Kawasaki of carrollton can make you a great deal on a '08 650r. go in there and ask for jason. buying an '07 at this point means the bike has already depreciated a year.

89stangGT, thanks for the advice. i'm gonna look for a used r6, zx6r, 600rr, or gsxr600 just to get them more in my price range. unless i can find a new one with a pretty low monthly payment. i dont want to pay more than $250 including bike and insurance. would that be hard to achieve? or should i expect higher numbers?

Expect to pay ~$100/mo for full coverage. So $150/mo for payments should easily be doable.

I have bought a motorcycle and 4 wheeler there, after my last experience there I will not buy anything else from them, if you do buy something from Action, use Neal, he is the young salesman he is a really cool guy, I am the only person to buy a KFX 450R new there and not get a helmet after I bought a fucking motorcycle and 4 wheeler there. Then the guy had the nerve to stop my gf on her way to the b-room and talk to her. The parts dumbass fucked my orders up several times recently too, the girl was the one I ordered the parts from, all the other parts people seem to be decent.

Oh and the guys in the service area sometimes tend to ignore you also.

rant end/

yokia if you cant find a gsxr in the 4-5k range your not looking or your not stating that you want one new or something, gimme 100$ I will have you about 100 options in a day easily. edit: damn I just looked a little, looks like prices are up. I have bought, sold a few in your price range for bikes 3-4 years old, gsxr 600's.

The ninja 650, I wouldn't buy it, but thats me, I like big and bad to be equipped and usable, not mediocre. Thats what the 650 is a "sporty" bike not a sport bike if you know what I mean. If you want superbike/supersport, buy one, not that terd, but if you want a semi upright, semi fast, semi fun bike get the 650. If you want balls out once you get used to the bike, get something else, as long as you can control YOURSELF you can control a supersport.

That would be like buying a V6 mustang, when you really want the GT. Yeah you need to get used to it before riding/driving hard, but once your used to it you are gonna wish the power was there, well most do, some dont mind going slow

here offer this guy 4500

see if this guy will do like 5300 or something close

you are welcome, I cant believe there are no 02-03 600's those should be right in your price range, I was gonna sell my 02 gsxr 600 for 4500, and it was MINT condintion never wrecked, but I ended up trading it for a truck.

That yellow one is damn nice, I would try my hardest to lowball the guy with the newer one, you never know what people will settle for he may be hurtin for money and take your offer, worst that will happen is he will say no.

Remember if its been painted you can bet it was dropped, even if the guy says no it wasn't I myself would not buy a painted bike, most people dont paint them for no reason, hell 95% of the time painted bikes look like shit compared to the original scheme anyway, so the person can't use the excuse "oh I just didnt like how it used to look" let someone else chance that.

you might want too look at the Kawasaki zzr 600. It is the same bike as the Ninja zx-6 from 98 to 01. It has a true inline four and plenty of power. Looks a lot better than the 650r. I got mine in aug last year and the payments are only 130 a month. The stang is payed for so the bank is using the full coverage on it and I carrying liability on the bike for $98 bucks a year.

so i went to action kaw. suz. art.... got approved for 7 grand, payments $175, interest rate at about 17.3(ouch). Is this good, ok, bad, could be better, keep looking....etc? Another thing is, if i were to get a bike out the door at $6k, would i be able to use the left over $1k to buy gear(helmet, jacket, gloves). i have looked at the different bikes there and am pretty set on the zzr600. just wondering if i would go cheaper, would i be able to buy gear.

Go throw a leg over as many bikes as you can in your price range and get what feels best to you.

If you go cheaper on a new bike your going to get alot less bike. I put a grand down and financed 6k through a local independent bank, drug it out for 5 years to get the lower payments and I think the intrest rate was around seven. If you go through KAW I believe it is like a credit card. Thats where the high rate comes from and who knows how long it will take to pay off. If your credit is good should not be hard to get a good loan. Just stay away from the national banks.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you see a 650r for $4379 OTD?

I like the 650r and was thinking about getting it for my first bike. I'm not too concerned with going fast, using it mostly for commuting (all city roads) and for a little weekend riding.
