Looks as if they've begun recording their new album, or will start recording in the next day or two. Brendan O'Brien is producing this time around, which worries me, as this man is generally produced radio friendly rock (Pearl Jam, STP, Incubus). Something tells me that this was Warner Bros. decision, to get some radio play, rather than Mastodon's decision.

I'm prepared for the worst.

I read in Revolver mag. that they told Warner Bros. that they would not sign on unless they had full control over their music. Who know's tho

Recent edition of Revolver, or one from a few years ago?

Brann Dailor's own words....

Brendan is awesome, and the studio is right here in the ATL. We start next week and were all really exited, we've been working really hard on our material and Brendan is going to bring out the best in us, he doesn't want to change much, he just wants to make it sound huge. Bayles used to be Brendans assistant. I think Matt really looked up to him and kind of modeled his style after him.
Don't worry, I think it's going to be awesome.

It's pretty normal to use a different producer after three records. We just want to change it up a bit, see what else is out there for us. It's like if you dated the same girl through high school, when you got to college, you might want to play the field a bit. Bayles did a great job, and we're still good friends, he thinks doing a record with Brendan is the perfect idea. We want to try new things and now is the time to do so. Did I mention that the studio is less than a mile from my house, instead of three thousand miles. I like my bed a-lot.
