Looking to buy something used for a fun commuter. I'll only have between $3k and $4k to spend. Plus I'll have to buy some gear. I'm a baller on a budget. What's the best bang for the buck? I want something in the 600cc range.

katana, gsxr, sv640, bandit, cbr6, ninja 650. you have a pretty good range with that.

Out of those 5 which would you pick first?

I'd get the gixxer or CBR. Reliable bikes and easiest to repair and maintain. Everyone has a gixxer. I just love the look of the CBR's.

Sold the dirtbike so I'm in the market for a bike. Not sure if I want to get another dirtbike, or get a street bike and get another dirtbike later. If I come accross a deal I cant pass up and some cheap gear I may go with the street bike......

Or an '04 up ZX6-R for that matter... I'm finding I can buy a 1000 with the features I want for not much more than the 600! I think this is mostly because the technology runs down starting at the bigger bikes. For example, I want an undertail exhaust. I can get that in an R1 as early as '04, but have to shop for an '05 or '06 in a 600 to find that. (and even some of those are the small pine-box type exhausts instead of a true undertail.)

f4i or 600rr, you CAN NOT GO WRONG WITH HONDA!

r6's are junk... yamis are fragile and slow.

i dont like gsxr's..but that's just because every popped collar faggot has one. :p

kawi's have always been good to me, but they do take more maintenance than say, the f4i..

Sit on EVERYTHING and buy whatever feels the best, sans katana, sv650, etc ;)

They are fragile! i've seen yami's break from being touched the wrong way. :p

my buddies r6 has a 48t on it stock... if the bike wasn't weaksauce why wouldn't they put a 40/43 like the rest of the manuf's? he even hates the bike because it's tempermental as can be. and less than 4k miles on it to boot.

What year R6? and what does the gearing have to do with it? Have you checked out what the transmission is geared at? Who the hell cares what sprockets are on it. If it runs hard, it runs hard. End of story. There is a reason for a loooooong time most people rode 99+ R6s on CMRA

dude, if it makes you feel better then you're right. r6's rock.

but here in reality, nobody rides them anymore. tracks are dominated by 636's,6/1RR's, ducs, even gsxrs.. but not many yami's.

That '03 R1 for $3900 is a DEAL! Etiher a deal or possible scamola.... The MPG difference between a 600-750-1000 is negligible, so I wouldn't worry about it. All the newer FI lightweight supersports get pretty badass milage.....

supersport is 600. literbikes expect mid 40's if you take it easy. 600 youll see mid 50's w/o a problem

I'm talking sportbike, supersport, meaning top of the line given the cc......not AMA superbike terms.... The difference between 600cc and literbike MPG given the same riding style is going to be within a few mpg's. I've owned about 20 motorcycles of all cc ranges over the last 6-7 years.

Hi there,

I forgot to specify in the ad that the bike is located in Chicago, IL.The price that I ask for it is $2,500 and includes shipping to your door.It has 14,100 miles and is in a very good running condition, garage kept, new tires and clear title.I am in Iraq now and I'll be back in US at the end of September but the bike is in Chicago, IL.
As a payment protection for both of us I want to use eBay Motors Vehicle Protection Programs because they have a protection up to $50,000.
If you are still interested let me know and I will inform you how eBay Motors program works.I don't have to much access at the internet here in Iraq but I will try to answer as soon as I can.

Hondas actually get the worst MPG out of the open class bikes. i think their high average is 39-40

For maximum parts availability and fun on a 600cc sportbike, you want a fuel-injected late-model inline from the "big four".

01-up Suzuki GSXR 600
01-up Honda CBR F4i
03-up Honda CBR 600rr
03-up Yamaha R6
04-up Kawasaki ZX6R(636cc)

buick355 stick to this list it is a good one, dont get anything older than 01-02 ish, motorcycle technology changes alot so anything over a few years can be outdated pretty easy. You will notice a big difference in the ride of bikes from the 90's/early 00's the the bikes from as early as 03.

I had a 00 gsxr 600, and a 02 gsxr 600, the 02 was light years ahead when it came to..... everything.

Screw Katana's etc... and I wouldn't be looking at a litre bike for my first sport so I would go with a 600, they are plenty fast.

the bike 5.0cj posted is a damn nice one too.

I like to ride suzuki, honda is pretty much the most durable, but also a little underpowered and rock hard seats. some like yamaha and say they are more refined, well I want badass and fast so suzuki and kawasaki cover that pretty well.

To each their own on sportbikes, usually a person will only like a couple makers bikes, the way they ride, and stay with it, so if you get a chance test ride them

BE PATIENT you very rarely find the good deal when you rush the purchase, I see you rushing posting up old ass pieces of doo doo.
