I have never owned a street bike, but have rode motorcycles all my life. I ran across a 2004 Sportster Custom, 7200 miles, extra chrome, saddlebags, custom exhaust, custom foot pegs, pearl white. Guy is asking 6900.00 guy is throwing in leathers and helmet.

Blue book trade in $5200.00
Retail............. $ 7890.00

Not a bad deal but if its what you want go for it. Give yourself some time before you buy it

I saw a Yamaha Vstar 1100 classic today in Oklahoma for 4K. It looks like a harley sounds like a harley, with the right pipes but costs a whole lot less.

Good advise given there. Seems like a good idea since it is 70 degrees outside. I bet when it's a 100 degrees it will stay in the garage.

I don't know if Harleys sell the same way sportbikes do, but if I've got a bike for sale this time of year it generally sells within a few days if not hours of posting it for sale.

If that bike is the exact bike you want and the price is right you might want to jump on it.

Have it checked out at the dealer before money changes hands. The check-out is cheap. I believe it is around 100 bucks.

Nice bike

1200........

Thanks for the input guys. I am not fond of making payments right now. Motorcycles and boats should be paid for in cash with no payments. Right now I just don't have the cash.

By the way, I am very pro-Harley just not pro-Sportster.....

My bike is a 2003 100th anniversary Harley Davidson Road King Classic

i dont know a real man that rides a sportster just my opinion,

fuel injected on a harley is the only way to go.

might want to consider a nighttrain ordyna or something else.

ahhh this is what i love about working at a japanese make shop, none of this "real men ride (blank)" bullshit. so how come a guy can ride a suzuki boulevard c50 (800cc) next to a guy on a sportser 883, and its the guy on the harley that gets ridiculed for riding a "girls bike"? This is why my opinion isnt all that hot on the average harley rider. A real rider doesnt give a fuck what anybody else is riding, its just about enjoying the ride and getting out in the wind.

Sportsters were cool back in the day (anybody remember "Then Came Bronson") but now they seem just way too small and primitive, regardless if it's a 883 or 1200.

If your heart's set on a Harley, peruse Craig's List and/or Cycle Trader for a few days and check out all the other Harleys available. They've got sooo many models now you might find a lot more bike for your money in a style that's roomier for the rider and has a few more features.

Just my 2¢. I've been riding for over 30 years and it's not what you ride, it's that you ride.

Have fun. Be safe.

PS: And yes, there are a huge variety of cool metric V-twins out there that might scratch your big twin itch for a lot less cash...

why do you hear everyone saying get a v8 instead of a v6?
personally id rather ride a boulevard than a sporster anyday, alot due to size also im 6'1 200lbs i have riddin many sportsers and just feel like im on a scooter.
you can ride a scooter for all i give a fuck however id rather save a little extra and get a bigger bike, something you wont outgrow. otherwise we should just all get ninja 250's

Just go ahead and step up to a bagger!!
I used to think I would never ride one. Now that I own one, I wonder what took me so long to get one.

Not mine, but this one looks good

Looks like he already tried to sell it on Ebay. Looking at what similar bikes have sold for, $6900 doesn't really seem like a "deal" at all.

I hear ya, but I have to keep in my budget. I would rather get tired of riding a $6k motorcycle than a 13-20k motorcycle.
