Now that I have a computer set up to use as an HTPC, I have a couple of questions.

Is there a program to use with the PC that upconverts SD DVD's? Computer has HDMI output, and I'm looking for a program thats gonna upconvert the best.

How do you rip DVD's and store them to view through the PC?<---this one is probably simple, but I can't seem to figure it out :( I have DVD shrink, DVD decripter, Nero

I plan to buy a seperate USB storage device, maybe a couple of 500g units, or a 1tb unit. Where's the best place to shop? Tiger Direct? New Egg?

I would use Dvd Shrink with AnyDVD (to pwn copywrite)

Check out slickdeals.net, etc. Frys and newegg usually have great deals for drives.

there is no software to upconvert SD to HD...the best thing you can do is download a bunch of codec and screw with the setting to try and get the better picture. I will try and find a link...its on avsforums

As far as hard drives...check out www.pricewatch.com and look.. Newegg usually has great prices.

When you rip the movie...rip it to an ISO, then use VLC Media Player to play them.

Nick, I use anydvd to rip it and then use Powerdvd to play it. You can purchase it or do some hunting, you can find it for free. The anydvd will just store it to you hard drive. Keep this in mind though, HDs and BD are VERY large. They can be shrunk be they can still be around 25 to 35 gig. You will need a lot of HD space. The regular dvds will be around 7.5 or so.

Check out the forums on this site. It has a lot of info. http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvdhd.html
