on SMITH & WESSON SIGMA 9MM PISTOL

I have always been partial to smith and wesson my step dad had a S&W 357 for as long as I can remember .. always served him well
or can you suggest another firearm ....I am looking for something in a full frame... reliable ... and not too expensive around 400... primary use carry / home protection

forget the sigma...sort of cheezy guns...

Try a CZ P75, used Glock or Sig...both sell "certified" guns that have been gone through at the factory. There are a couple others but those are the ones I would bet my life on. Also, up your price range $100...prices have been going up.

I have seen Certified glocks for $399 and Got my Sig 220 for $429 a little over a year ago....just keep your eyes peeled.

you will love the 11 pound double action only trigger on the sig.

Spend a few extra dollars and get the M&P its a very nice pistol.

you said you wanted a S&W, the M&P has the same rebate and is the same price as the glock.

Don't know much about Sigma's and HiPoints.

Cobra is another cheaper brand like Sigma and Hipoint.

Getting a certified used semi-auto in 400-500$ range is possible.

Several sellers of used firearms offer a checkup for cheap or free.

Sig Sauer, Springfield XD, Glock.

Springfield XD can be had for 440$ new in some versions.

I was just throwing that out there ..

I was just starting at the top and looking at what was suggested ..
the M&P is definitely what I am looking for I think ..

the sig is a bit out of my price range ( unless I can find a good deal on one )
the S&W m&p .40 or 9mm is what I am leaning towards ..

I was hoping someone had some first hand knowledge ....

my dad got an M&P 9, very nice pistol, the adjustable backstraps really make sure it fits your hand. Its pretty accurate for an auto. Don't have a huge number of rounds through it yet but its been very reliable. the Smith and Wesson warranty is very nice and the rebate and extra mags is a nice bonus.

I have a glock, nice pistol and accurate but not anywhere near as comfortable in the hand. The triggers are very similar with the same type of safety. Take down of both is very close. the M&P does have a mag safety which the glock doesn't.

the M&P 9mm holds 17 rounds in a very small grip.

Loaded chamber indicator is nice on the M&P which the glock really doesn't have.

After May 15th, the summer special starts. I think its $30 or 2 free mags

http://www.smith-wesson.com/wcsstore/SmWesson/upload/other/SW_Q1_PromoCoupon.pdf

I have two M&Ps a 9mm and a 40. picked up the 40 a few months ago at Bachman Pawn for $420 and the 9 at the gunshow from bachman for $399. got both $50 rebates and 2 extra mags for each.

I have about 3,000 rounds through the 40 with zero problems and about 250 through the 9 again with no prolems at all.

Check out http://mp-pistol.com/ lots of information about them
