We finally has new windows installed and what a huge difference it makes! We have no clue why someone would build a house that faces north with nice big windows on the front and rear that do not open. Of the 13 windows in the house, only one small window in the master opened properly. The others were either broken or solid panes. Hopefully this will help with the electic bills as well. Gotta love that nothern breeze! Next up, exterior paint....

Thanks, its a work in progress for sure. We are trying to decide if we want to paint just the trim, or paint the whole place, including brick. There are several homes in our neighborhood that have been painted and look really nice. I was thinking grey with white trim or something.

Ha! Sears was running a 0% special a while back so we had them come out and quote just the 6 big windows. 3 front and the 3 big plate glass ones in the back. They quoted $9700! He tried to convince us that it would add 10K to the value of the home..... Our neighbor sells windows and siding wholesale and hooked us up with a great installer. It ended up right at $3900 total. I am hoping they will impact the elec. bills. They make a huge difference with noise too. We are on a main drag, and its cut the noise to nothing.

I kinda liked the old solid pane windows at the back

Yeah they created a nice view, but the breeze we get from the patio is better. Because the windows were sold old and shitty, it was impossible to control the temp in that room. We never hang out in there or watch tv because its either too warm or too cool. Plus, they were so thin, you could not escape the sound of the neighbors barking dog!!! At least now with the windows closed we dont hear him!
