RLA is the Normal Running Amperage and the LRA is Locked rotor Amperage
It appears that the compressor is a 4ton

Wow does that sound big for a 1650 sq foot house built in 1978 ?

No, it doesn't sound big for that era. That's a little over 400sf a ton. Because of the Seer levels, window improvements, isulation packages, etc., a 3 ton unit would probably work, if the house were updated with other energy products. Ceiling heights, number of windows, and even the direction the house faces ,all come into play when figuring the correct sizing of the system.

The numbers run in multiples of 12 per ton , so a 48 in the number should be a 4 ton.
