Long time since I've seen an "not so P.C." ad. Good to see. Wish I had the cash for the Bushmaster. Had to put brakes on the race toy. :(

They won't sell an AR to people under 21.
It's their right to do so and my right to not shop with them.

Because it's a stupid feel-good policy made by the same type of ignorant policymakers that think the looks of a gun somehow make it more dangerous than a mechanically-identical but traditional-looking hunting rifle.

point and match. I think Academy's policies are bullshit. I won't ever go back to the Grapevine location. I went to go by a gun and they made me feel like someone who "shouldn't" be able to get a gun. I have a CHL right, so that bypasses NICS. Well, they thought I was making it up or spewing bullshit. They were asking everybody there in the hunting dept about it. No one knew, so they called NICS anyway and hung up quite promptly. I'm guessing they were told that sincs I have a CHL that NICS isnt neccessary. The guy was still giving me the evil eye after the phone call. Overall, it took me 1hr and 15-20minutes to get the gun. Sportsmans, I could be in and out in less than 15 minutes. Why did I wait that long, i dunno. I really wanted the gun. I have never had a problem with the Lewisville store.

edit- I'm assuming this is a good price for a bush .223

I have bought two guns at Dick's with my CHL and both have taken at least 45 minutes. It never took longer than 15 minutes before I had my CHL anywhere I went. So much for making it faster.

Bachman's has mainly new guns. Bachmans, hate to say is usually the cheapest place in town.

Just in a really bad location, and he hits all the gun shows.

You know I'll take Academy's "feel good" policy over Walmarts any day. At least they still sell firearms at the stores

Not at any of the ones in my area. They hardly sell ammo anymore it seems like.

Not all of them do. The one by my house stopped selling them a couple of years ago. You can still special order them I believe but I probably wouldn't do that through Walmart, I'd rather give my money to someone that still sells firearms "in store".

I did not think anyone went to the one in Denton unless you were looking for a fight. I go to the one in Hickory Creek and Highland Village. Good to know they still have some at the Denton store.

Good to know they still have some at the Denton store.I try to avoid that place like the plague during the day, and don't really like going there at night, either, but whenever I do, I stop by the guns and ammo department to ogle the guns and laugh at the ammo prices. Among other things, they have a 10/22 and Remington 700 in .308 Win Mag, I believe!

The phone call only takes 2-3 minutes in most cases. It just makes it easier. I've done plenty of sub-5 minute transactions with CHL holders that I know (when they're short on time).

Thats the normal price for Academy, its not on sale it is just in the add at regular price. If it is on sale is will specify "Right Now" and include both the regular price and the sale price.

As for it taking over 20-30min to purchase a gun. Regardless of a CHL or not that is just poor training/service on the part of the store. CHL knocks off 5min max on the sale of a gun(unless of course you are one of the people who always get delayed).
