Might be a good opportunity to shit-can the sliders, and swap in some french doors. So muchnicer, and more secure to boot. Just a thought.

X2 here. My new house has double pane sliders with the internal window spokes. I want to put in the french full-view glass doors with the internal mini-blinds. They look cool.

They are much more efficient, too. A little more expensive, but a much better product for MANY reasons.

yup - I have three single doors like that installed in my old house. Very modern looking. I met a guy at Traders Village that gets pretty good pricing on them. Can get the inserts as well in case you have plane double-pane insert.
BTW, there's a guy on CL with a Pella sliding setup for sale but its 108" (like three doors) wide. I only have space for two otherwise I'd be all over it.
