Some friends and I built these in our yards. Three houses, three pergolas. We still need some material to use as the cover for shade and rain. I've seen some vinyl/plexi-glass stuff at Lowe's that would work but I'm open to some canvas tarp kind of stuff. Anyone got a hookup on some awning material? We'll need enough to cover the one pictured plus two more.

My wife wants one just like that. I prefer one with a roof so the grill and chairs don't get so dirty. Did you anchor that to the house or is it free standing? Also, what was your cost for materials?

It's free standing, not attached to the house at all. Something about building code so it's not part of the house. I'm not sure on specifics on that. I just went with it. I have it to where once I put a roof/cover/tarp on it, it will be under the lip of the house's roof.

It's all treated lumber and it cost me $180 in materials.

Once you find a covering, post up what you did to finish it out. I have something similar and have been looking for a covering as well. Just not sure what to go with.

I think I would put some guttering up before I put some sort of a roof on it. On a hard rain you might have some water back up under the roof. Im not sure on that, maybe someone else will have some more info on this.

Lowe's has this Tuftex stuff but I was hoping for something different.

We made sure it was sloped down and away from the house. It would take some strong winds to get the water to backup like that.

Been looking at this....

http://www.gemplers.com/product/55554/10x12-10-oz-Treated-Canvas-Tarp

It has grommets every 2 feet. I can probably screw it down along one side then use a bungee on the other sides and sort of weave it in and out. That way it will always be stretched tight.

Man I know they all say weather and rot resistant, but the sun can break down almost anything like that in a few years. I'd put the panels up there from Lowe's and be done with it. My mom and dad have some of those plastic panels on their patio and it's been there for 25 years, and been through about a half dozen minor hail storms.

Nice job on the build. I want to do one just like that.
