My A/C has been marginal the two years I've been in my house. Fortunately I was in Houston most of last summer, lol.
Well this year I'll have to do something with it. Anyone recommend an A/C guy to come service my system and/or quote me a replacement? Thanks.

I have a bad problem too. I just bought my house last month. The previous owners paid for a home warranty for us. Well last night the condensor went out on us. The warranty company sent a company to look at it today. The company said we have a power ground short. They said we need the condensor replaced.
The warranty company said they will cover $1631 of the cost. The repair company said it will cost another $704 to get it done. Of course we have to come up with the 704. I can do it but I just think it is a bit excessive.
I can get the check for the 1631 but need a certified repairman to the job.
46tbird, I didnt mean to highjack your thread but I am sweating like a mofo in here.

I used several AC guys in the past and now have a preferred one. I'm currently digging up his information and will post it when I have it. What I liked was his creativity, pricing and quality of work.
All the estimates we got included the need for a new AC unit. However I have a single room upstairs that got hot as hell and I wanted a seperate unit which is what I got quoted. This guy...
1. Sold me a better 5 ton unit then the others. (Warranty, SEER ...etc)
2. Got creative on how to cool my upstairs room with my existing and sufficient 5 ton unit. This saved me a ton of money. This room is now a ton better then it used to be. I run my servers and stuff from here so it'll never be perfect.
3. Unit was installed and everything looked great to me. My Dad is a builder and checked it out and thought it was fine too.
4. Additionally for normal repairs to things, they are very reasonable and I like a 1 stop shop for HVAC type things.
I'll get that posted up so you can get an estimate from them as well.
Take care,

I used StangGT40's guy Armando to replace all 7 tons of my A/C in my house over the last two years and it has performed flawlessly since he did it.
I'm needing to get both my A/C units replaced pretty quickly. ACE Air conditioning quoted us $9500 both both units installed. Does anyone know anyone that can do that for a cheaper price?

Danny, if you don't use any of the guys in this thread give me a call. I've got a guy I used several times for several different issues at the condo and he was very reasonable and a nice guy.

LOL, this thread is from last year. I got the issue fixed. I may upgrade sometime, but for now it's keeping the house cool. We'll see how it works when it gets into the 100s. I may be staying at a Holiday Inn Express for a month. :D
