What scope for M1A SOCOM?

Well, what kinda scope should I get? I'm not looking to cheap out, but then again, I'm not going to drop a grand on it. Also, should I leave it mid mount, or get the mount that puts it over the reciever? Just wondering if anyone has some pros and cons on either option. Thanks in advance,

aimpoint fits the best and is most commonly used for a socom

Second choice for me would be an EOTech. One of the Leupold scout scopes would get my first vote.
