I think I have a general Idea.Metal tube with baffles. Whole in the middle of the baffles bigger than the ammo. Im wondering if I could build one my self instead of buying one.

Same shit that's in a muffler. Any amount of designs, bafflng, angles etc.
Just remember, legally to make one, you have to file a Form 1 pay the $200 tax, signatures, photo, fingerprints, etc.

you could, but you need some decent machining abilities, and there are equations on spacing the baffles vs. the properties of the round you're trying to silence

Here is AAC Prodigy silencer, the top item is the guts of the silencer.

hmm...I am not doubting what you say because I know you know alot more about guns than I do and I trust your opinion. Do you still have the link to the video because I would love to be proved wrong on this.

I did the 2L bottle on the marlin model 60 made no difference. Didn't have subsonic ammo thought but still appeared to be all show and no go.

no i just did the plain bottle on the end of the gun, the magazine tube held the bottle on perfect but it was just as loud with it.

Pack a two liter bottle with steel wool and it will work. ;) Sounds like a bb gun.

down pillows.
Steel wool works pretty well as a baffling material in my experience. But you also have to take into account the length of the silencer you are making.
When I was a kid I had a semi auto .22 rifle and used to fool around with silencing it. I finally got it pretty quiet but realized that the sound of the bolt flying back when it fired was almost as loud at the noise from the end of the barrel.

I've machined and registered a silencer from my .22LR. The difference is insane, all that can be heard is the firing pin spring and slide. All you need is a lathe, some machining experience, a threaded barrel, and a whole lot of patience. I spent quite a long time trying different baffle designs. The tricky part is getting into the larger calibers, thats when it starts to become difficult. I still have a lot of learning left to do.
