I find this simply disgusting. The man is a pacifist with no balls and no honor whatsoever.

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) - Former President Jimmy Carter embraced a leading Hamas figure Tuesday, according to participants in a meeting that infuriated Israeli officials already upset by Carter's freelance Mideast peace mission.

Carter also laid a wreath at the grave of Yasser Arafat, whom the Bush administration and many Israelis blame for the breakdown of peace talks seven years ago and the violence that followed.

That will go nowhere, except to undermine our government. He didn't do anything the 4 years he was in office, so why now? They see him as weak (which he is), and it's a photo-op for Hamas. It just give them "credibility", in their eyes. No more...no less.

Maybe he sees our current regime as having a very flawed policy regarding the middle east conflict. Many arguments can be made in favor of that view, and they have been. Maybe that's what they're looking for, credibility, consideration, compassion. I think they deserve it, as human beings, livers of life on this planet. Every human being has an inborn want and need to have their interests considered and satisfied. If you do not air out any and all grievances in any side of a conflict, it WILL NOT BE SOLVED. History has proven this, and this is no exception.

You were not alive when Carter was in office...please...I lived it, and if anyone was flawed, it was him. His presidency was a debacle from start to finish. If he had slapped Iran in 1979, we wouldn't be in this situation now.

You have a group of savages that can only be appeased if they get what they want. So what would you suggest? Take off the idealistic hat and throw out a solution.

If you help them or attempt to, then they say you are weak and have no respect for you or you're labeled as a Zionist lover and they hate you even more. The only way to get their respect is to cancel all human emotions and relocate their teeth to the back of their throat via a boot.

Actually, even when they are given what they want they are still not appeased. Arafat turned down the peace deal that essentially gave him what he asked for. They will not be happy until israel ceases to exist, and i don't see that ever happening.

Mike and I go back to the old days. When I get to the point of pulling my hair out with a chainsaw, he's usually my go to advisor, because I know he's been in a family business and small business as well as having both success and failure.

I've been through all the above as well. The hardest part about success is embracing your failures, learning from them and not repeating them and Mike has a very straight forward way of helping you pull your head out of your ass and see things from an experienced perspective.

If I ask for "Zara", will they know who I'm speaking of?

having lived through the carter years i can tell you it was no fun. people lost homes because of his bullshit economics . mortgage rates went through the roof. try an increase of 500 bucks a month. his goody two shoe attitude made this country a laughing stock for the world. next to richard " i give up" nixon he was one of the worst presidents we ever had in my lifetime. personally i hope hamas keeps the son of a bitch. he is doing what the world has gone out of it's way to not do , deal with a terrorist bunch of thugs. if there was a volley of missiles from mexico today there would be no mexico tomorrow . why they put up with it i dont know but my vote would be to give fair warning and if attacked again declare war on gasa and bust their ass. enough is enough. you cant deal with thugs .

Why?

Stang Seller
05-04-2008, 03:23 PM
He didn't do anything the 4 years he was in office, so why now?

Yes he did. He managed to screw over the US only middle east ally and gave birth to modern terrorism at the hands of Ayatoilet Ruhollah Khomeini. Jimmy Carter is one of the leading reasons terror groups get funding from Iran, and if I were to ever see him close to me and I had the opportunity... I would bitch slap him back to 1979.

This Iranian issue we have now, is a direct result of the Carter administration. When I see folks post up about how Bush is by far the worst Prez EVER, I chuckle. Can we blame it all on Carter? Of course not...just like we can't fully blame Bush for the issues he's trying to deal with now. Good or bad shit does not happen over night, and neither does the cure...

On the one hand, you guys are glad that we share common ground on the Carter issue. On the other hand, I am glad that you folks share the same opinions and beliefs on the Carter issue. There is no denying the legacy he left behind. What that man's cowardice and lack of honour has caused is going to be felt by our children, think of all the problems we would have avoided if he never made president. The first that comes to mind is Iran-Contra.

I dont know....... you measure a man by his actions and his actions really come up short. I cannot ever think of him as a good man, what he helped cause will stick with me the rest of my life as well. We as Iranians all share a common distaste for Carter. His cowardice, greed, and indecision is largely to blame for the current state of the Middle East.

If we are looking at actions as the measure of a man then consider Jimmy Carter has been quite active in humanitarian work, such as habitat for humanity and working to improve health conditions in poor countries. I agree with vertnut, he made a terrible president but I do believe that at the core he is a decent albeit misguided human being.

That was my point. His humanitarian efforts show his love of the human race, but it was also his downfall. A president has got to be a hard-ass at times, and he never came across as one until he was out of office.
