How often should I put down some weed and feed and lawn fertilizer. I realize that weed and feed has fertilizer in it. Im new to the trying to get the grass looking good game and dont have much info on it. I treated the yard with Lesco brand weed and feed Sun. What should be my next step?
Im putting down weed and feed NOW, then going with a turf builder in about a month...month and a half. Dont want to rush the fertilizer...it needs some time to work.

I use Scott's it's the best all around imo. Goto the bottom of the page where is says "feeding know how" and type in your zip and it will give you a pretty good plan.

I put down Scott's Weed N Feed two weeks ago. It'll get it again on the last week of August. On the day I do it, I mow right about sunset, spread the Scott's, then water (water later in the evening when I do it in August).

While they do have good products..you can get the same results with other brands. If I had a choice...Id stick with Lesco stuff myself.

I'm sure you can. I first tried Scott's on my yard and never had a problem, so I'll never change until I do.

I completely forgot my whole point of that...there are other good products that yield the same results that are CHEAPER :D
If you have a small yard like my girlfriends house, no problem. If you have a 4 acre lot with 1 acre of nice grass... Scotts adds up quick.

Yeah my dad says they are all pretty much the same you just have to pay attention to the numbers. Its preference and cost.
That plan can be used for any brand.

february 15 pre-emergence
april 01 fert w/insecticide (surface insects; ants, chinch bugs, etc..)
may 15 fert w/insect. (insecticide only for grub control
aug. 01; 28-3-10 50% slow or something similar; i personally put down the april
app. again, but that is mainly for ants and army/cut worms which i have trouble with in my area
sept. 15 fert w/pre-emergence again
i know this seems like overkill but my customers want the best so i give it to them.

Iv tried a couple different Scott products and they didnt seem to work for me. I tried some High Yeil stuff and everything Iv used from them has worked badd ass. But I dont know if they make weed and feed or anything like that

Do you have St. Augustine grass? I really like Scotts Bonus S weed and feed. I just did it last week and I can see the grass greening up already.
