Every time I read a news story about Zimbabwe, I remember how the government was going to solve all the problems by income redistribution. In 2000, they took all the farm land away from the land owners and split it up among the poor people. Since then, the agriculture industry has died and the economy has collapsed with 80% unemployment and 100,000% inflation.

But socialism just hasn't been done correctly, yet.

Nor will it ever be.

I've heard that if they took all the wealth in the US, and distributed it evenly, that within 20 years, those that originally had all the money, would have it back. It's all about motivation and work ethic. A lot of folks have neither.

The poor people were poor for a reason. I suspect that they were not able to deal with the prospect of farming land and selling crops. Still. this is a telling damnation of wealth redistribution schemes.

Old hugo chavez is also tinkering with his economy in similar ways and IMO is going to destroy it.

I really think he's an ok guy, he just brings it on himself, like pretty much every other idealistic iconoclast. He's just a punk ass youngster about it. Again, he seems like he means well, but of all the places he could post on this board, the political forum is the location least likely to suffer fools.

Fast Forward 1 year...

They will be killing each other in the streets because of the lack of food as they drove off the white farmer who feeds them...

A cival war with calls for the US to come to their aid, no doubt.
